People today are always getting tattoos and body piercings. Also, some religious sects will  mark the forehead when performing religious rituals. The Bible states that God's mark is not on the flesh but in it. Marking up the body has been around for centuries that is why it is mentioned in the Bible. What does God have to say about it?  Let's take a look at some of the scriptures. First let's look at the one about tattoos!

Leviticus 19:28

28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

The original destruction of flesh was of pagan origin just as some of the other rituals that evolved from the worship of false gods. Most individuals that receive tattoos are doing it just because....., not realizing that it originates because of religious rituals that are demonic in nature just like walking through fire (2 King 16:2-3), which is an abomination to God. If God wanted us to abuse our bodies in such a manner, do you think he would have made nerve endings for us to feel the pain? Now the ritual about placing a mark on the forehead probably originated with the scriptures concerning Satan's mark and God's mark.

Revelation 13:15 - 16

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

In this verse it is obvious that the power belongs to someone that opposes God and wants us to worship a false image so we will be killed, namely Satan.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

He (Satan), will cause all to receive a mark in their hand or in their foreheads. This verse explains that Satan plans on leaving no one out of his plot for causing us to commit to him instead of God. This particular verse and the way it is phrased creates a question. How can Satan cause us to receive a mark in our foreheads? A mark in the hand could be done by a dye such as henna, an ink pen, magic marker, a burn, etc. Does a mark in the forehead actually mean a mark inside our skull? Thinking up evil, conniving thoughts could be considered a mark in the forehead, meaning the mind, but for this particular verse, it means a mark on the forehead.

Revelation 20:4

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands: and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

God doesn't want us to have Satan's mark on our bodies whether it be a tattoo, ashes on the forehead, cuts, burns, or pierced areas. God's plan is for us to receive his mark in our forehead, meaning in our mind.

Revelation 7:3

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Why is this verse different from the previous verses concerning where the mark is located? The answer is in the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 10:16 - 17

16 This is the convent that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Putting his laws into our hearts, doesn't mean taking a pencil and writing them on that muscle that keeps our blood pumping or writing it on our brain. It means remembering with our mind and taking it to heart meaning, being serious about following God's commandments. When we do that, God remembers our sins and iniquities no more because we are doing what he has asked of us. We were placed here, to follow his commandments.

Ecclesiastes 12:13

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man.

Summary:

As I stated in the beginning of this topic, people have marks placed on their bodies just because.....  Following the trend can be an abomination to God. Before you decided to follow man just  because....., you ought to think about what you have read on this page and other pages on this web site.

We are supposed to seek God's kingdom first. (Mat. 6:33) The only way to find out what God expects from us is to search the scriptures for yourself and/or get assistance from someone that knows and understands what are in the scriptures. My research eliminated most of the Christian denominations that are so very popular.

As I stated in the conclusion on Quest # 5, Jesus said in Matthew 7:13 - 14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Why did I repeat the above scriptures? I repeated them because there is a very important message in it. Jesus already knew that most of the world was worshiping under a false religion and most people would ignore the truth or except all the falsehoods. Even when he made the statement almost two thousand years ago, there were only a small amount of people that knew the truth about his father's religion and would keep the faith. Even today there are very few Christian denominations that will address the questions in this web site without giving you some excuse for not following God's word, that is why Jesus says, "wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat."
