THE STORY SO FAR

Out of all the album tracks, "Life Got Cold" had a massive response from the fans so it was decided that it would be the girls' next single. Throughout the summer of 2003 the girls performed at various roadshows all over the country.

Whilst promoting "Life Got Cold", the girls went to Thorpe Park to film a piece for "The Saturday Show". They also filmed footage for their first documentary; MTV's "Diary Of Girls Aloud". "Life Got Cold" was released in August and charted at a respectable No.3 behind Lemar and Blu Cantrell.

The girls attended the Disney Channel Kids Awards 2003 where they won their first award. "Sound of the Underground" won Best Single beating off tons of competition including Busted and Justin Timberlake.

It seemed that after every high, there'd be a low. October 2003 saw Cheryl's trial where she was accused of 2 charges: assault occasioning actual bodily harm and racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Cheryl was cleared of the racist charge but was found guilty of assault. For this she had to pay a fine and do community service.

The girls pocketed a massive £500,000 to record a cover of the Pointer Sisters' "Jump (For My Love)" for the romantic comedy "Love Actually". The girls attended the premiere of the film and it was great to see Cheryl smiling which crushed circulating rumours that she was suffering from depression. "Jump" entered the charts at No.2 beaten to the top by Westlife with "Mandy".

The girls decided not to go for the 2003 Christmas No.1 spot and instead re-released their "Sound Of The Underground" album. The re-release included "Jump" and "Girls On Film" as well as a brand new track; "You Freak Me Out".
