American Idol (Clay Aiken) Supports Scope Marathon Runners

American Idol finalist and triple-platinum selling artist, Clay Aiken, joined disability charity Scope’s supporters to cheer on their runners in the Marathon on Sunday 18 April.

Clay, who was nominated for American Idol by the mother of a young man with autism, runs the Babel/Aiken Foundation, which supports disabled people. Clay was in the UK during Global Youth Service Day (16-18 April). Clay is working to enable disabled people to play an active role in volunteering, alongside their non-disabled peers.

Scope fundraiser and marathon organiser Annaliese Broderick said: “We are delighted Clay Aiken is backing Scope’s charity runners in this way. Having been a special education teacher in his past, he is all too aware of the barriers disabled people face in their everyday lives, and is keen to help raise awareness. The money raised by the Marathon runners will go towards supporting disabled children and adults across England and Wales.”
