Ruben and Clay Still Duking It Out

The Wichita area will be favored with appearances by both the winner and runner-up of last year's "American Idol" competition on TV.

The winner was Ruben Studdard and the runner-up was Clay Aiken. But the amount of money each is getting to appear in Kansas might raise questions about who really came out on top.

Studdard is getting $35,000 to bring his mellow R&B rhythms to the block party at the Wichita River Festival on Friday. Aiken is getting $100,000 to sing at the Kansas State Fair in September.

Of Studdard's total bill, the River Festival is putting up $10,000 while Power 93.9 radio is paying the rest. The station was instrumental in snagging Studdard for the block party.

Music fans should note, however, that getting into Studdard's show will require only a $3 River Festival button. Aiken's Sept. 10 grandstand show will cost $30 a ticket.
