Chapter 1
Later that day
"You wanna stay for lunch?" Bridget
asked.
"Yeah, thanks" JC said "but on one condition."
"Ah, ok. What's
that?" said Bridget.
"Join me and the guys for dinner tonight?" JC asked.
Bridget smiled in spite of herself. She forgot how much she missed the guys.
"Yeah, of course, I'd be glad to see the guys again" Bridget answered.
"Really..." JC laughed "and what about me? Are you happy to see me?" JC got
off the chair and went ober to the couch where she was sitting.
"Of course I
missed you Josh! Are you crazy? I'm glad we ran into each other at that party."
JC nodded. "I know, me too. I didn't know you worked for MTV. How did that
happen?" he asked.
"Well," Bridget replied "when I got to New York two
summers ago I applied for an internship. Unfortunately, the position was filled
at that time, but they called me the next year, and I've been working for them
off and on ever since."
JC couldn't believe how far she had come. She had
always been brilliant. Beautiful, and brilliant. She shared her dreams with him
and she was achieving them one by one. He was so proud of her, he was almost
speechless.
"Earth to Josh!" Bridget whispered into his ear.
JC jumped
at the sound of her voice.
"Yeah, yeah -- I'm here." JC said. "Where were
you just now?" Bridget asked "I thought I lost you."
All JC could think of
was how truly gorgeous she looked. "Ah, I was just thinking of how we met." JC
said smiling.
"Oh yes - we still got Paris" she remarked.
JC and Bridget
had met three years ago, while the boys were promoting in Europe. They literally
bumped into each other at a coffee shop in Paris. They actually stopped and had
a coffee together - which at that time, was still possible with him getting
bombarded with fans. JC thought back to Paris.
"Ya know, I went back to that
coffee shop this year, half hoping that you'd be there." JC told her "I thought
about you the whole time. I missed you a lot. I hope you know that."
"I've
thought about you too. But, ya know, it's kind hard not to with your face all
over the place!" Bridget kidded.
JC just smiled "You've seen that, huh?"
"Josh, it's unavoidable! I can't seem to get rid of you!" Bridget joked,
elbowing him in the side.
"Well, thanks a lot!" JC said, playfully hitting
her.
"Seriously though, I'm proud of you. All of you." Bridget
said
"Thanks Bridge," JC said "that seriously means the world to me. And you
should know that I fell the same about you. Although I'm not surprised. I always
knew you'd end up on top."
Bridget just smiled. Did this man know how much
he meant to her? Doubtful. Yet everytime she saw him, even on TV, he still held
that mysterious charm in him. "Thanks Josh, that means a lot" Bridget said.
And she meant it. Josh's faith in her meant the world to her. Even after
these two years of not speaking, he still was one of the most important people
in her life. She hoped he knew that.
"So, where's that lunch?" JC asked.
Bridget popped out of her daze.
"Ah, yes. Let's call China-Town
Express." she said.
"Girl, you know me too well!" JC smiled.
