...With You

Chapter 6

Madison walked across the hall to Carson’s apartment.
::Knock, Knock::
Madison stood outside the door, waiting for Carson to answer. She knew Carson was a little upset that JC was there. Carson was more important to her than anything, right now, even JC. She had called into work, telling Sam she’s gonna work from home today. That was the awesome thing about her job. A good percent could be done at home. She opted to do that a lot, it was nicer to work from her apartment than to travel in New York City. The door finally opened with Carson standing there.
“Madd! What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at work?” he asked.
“I’m working at home today.” She said. “Can we talk?”
“Sure.” Said Carson. “Are you ok?”
“I’m fine, Carson. It’s you that I’m worried about.” She said.
“Me?” he asked, looking down at his hands.
“Yeah, you. What was that back there? I mean, I know you don’t have a dentist appointment.” She said, walking into his apartment.
“Am I that obvious?” he asked.
“You’re transparent.” She said. “Now, what is this about, or do I know already?”
Carson stared at her not knowing what to say.
“Carson, is this about JC?” she asked.
Carson looked directly at her, not knowing what to say. Of course this was about JC. The guy moved in a little quickly. Carson just worried about Madison’s well being, maybe a little too much. He wasn’t her father, but sometimes he just felt the need to protect her.
“Madd, what you do with JC is none of my business.” He answered.
“Well,” Madsion said. “You’re right, but I didn’t do anything with JC.”
“Madison, who do you think you’re kidding here. It’s me…Carson! The guy walked out of your bedroom in his underwear!” he said.
Madison knew how the situation looked. But Carson, above all people, should know her a little better than that. She didn’t just sleep with anyone, even if he was JC Chasez.
“Carson, nothing happened.” She said
“You expect me to believe that JC Chasez spent the night, in your bedroom and nothing happened?” she said sarcastically.
“Yes. I expect exactly that! Carson, have you ever known me to sleep with just anyone!” she said excitedly.
Carson looked at her in disbelief. He knew she was right. He felt ashamed to think that he would even accuse her.
“Your right, Madd. I’m sorry. I know you well enough to know that you wouldn’t do anything. But, really, it’s not my business anyway.” He said.
“Yeah, your right. It’s not your business what JC and I are doing, but I do appreciate your concern.” She smiled.
Carson smiled back at her. How did she put up with him? He was so lucky to have her as a friend. He’d do anything for him if she asked him. His curiosity was raised to know what exactly went on, but he would never ask her. It wasn’t his place.
“Not that you’ll believe me, but nothing happened last night, Carson.” She said simply. “He just spent the night but we didn’t do anything.”
“Nothing?” Carson asked suspiciously.
“Well….” She said. “Something, but not anything serious.”
Carson smiled at her.
“Are you happy?” he asked.
“Happier than I’ve been in a long time” she said a matter a factly.
“Well, then, that’s all that matters.” He said.
He paused for a second.
“I have to confess something.” He said
“Yeah, what’s that?” she asked.
“I told JC about you and Chase. I’m sorry, I didn’t want to but he saw you and Chase together and I didn’t want him to get the wrong idea…..Madd, I’m really sorry.” He said.
Madison smiled.
“For a guy that didn’t want me to meet JC in the first place, you’re certainly be supportive in this.” She said.
“I just don’t want to see you get hurt, that’s all. I see how happy you are when JC’s around and I want you to be happy.” He said.
“Carson, JC told me that you told him.” She said.
“I’m gonna kill him” he said.
“No, don’t. I’m glad you told him. Chase paid me a visit last night.” She said.
“WHAT!!” Carson yelled. “When? Was JC there?”
“He let himself in with his spare key and was waiting on my couch when JC and I walked in. It wasn’t pretty.” She said.
“Well…..what happened?!” Carson asked. “Don’t tell me I have to pull this out of you?”
“No. No. Alright….here it goes.” She started.

**~*~*~*~**

JC let himself into the hotel suite he was sharing with the guys. He tried to keep it quiet, he knew that it was too early for anyone in that room to be awake. He looked at his watch, 7:30. It wasn’t as early as he thought. Still, the chances that anyone was up were slim. Although it was early and JC loved his sleep, he never felt so awake. He walked passed his room and walked out onto the balcony. He closed the door behind him, it was a little too cold to be standing out here for long, but he needed the air. From behind him, the door slid open and Justin stood standing there with two cups of piping hot coffee.
“Ah, man you read my mind” JC said.
“Whatch doin’ out here. It’s freezing.” Justin questioned.
“I just needed air” JC said.
Justin nodded. “You just get in now” he asked.
“Yeah, I didn’t wake you did I?” asked JC.
“No, I was up. I heard ya come out here and thought you could use some coffee.” Justin said.
“Thanks man.” He said, taking the cup to his lips.
“So….” Justin tried to be subtle.
“Ha. Justin subtly isn’t your strong suit.” JC laughed.
“I know.” Justin said smiling. “ So don’t let me suffer here. Everything all good?”
“Yeah, everything is good” JC said smiling. “Everything is very good.”
“Really good?” Justin said with a twinkle in his eye.
JC gave Justin a dry look. “Get your mind outta the gutter boy.” He said.
Justin laughed, he knew JC too well to believe that anything happened with Madison. He knew that JC had fallen hard for her in short a short time, but he also knew JC was a gentleman.
::Ring, Ring::
Justin’s thoughts were interrupted by the phone.
“I’ll get it” JC said, walking in from outside. Half of him hoped it would be Madison. No. All of him hoped it was Madison.
“Hello?” JC said.
“Hello…JC?” said a male voice bellowed.
JC knew the voice instantly.
“Yeah Johnny, what’s up?” JC said.
“Well, plans changed for this weekend. You guys gotta get a plane out of New York by Noon. I booked it, you just gotta get yourself out of there.” He said.
“What!?” JC said. “I thought we were here through the weekend?”
“Yeah, so did I. But something came up. I’m sorry, man.” He said.
“I know. That’s alright. I’ll make sure we get there.” JC said.
Johnny and JC talked over details about the following few weeks. JC hung up the phone with a sigh.
“What’s up?” Justin asked, now joined by the rest of the group.
“That was Johnny. We’re leaving in a few hours” he said softly.
“You serious?” Chris asked.
“Yeah.” JC said flatly. “Our flights’ at 11:45.”
“Well, nothing like short notice.” Lance said.
“Alright. Well, its done now. We should get packed up, we’ll leave for the airport around 10:30.” JC said. “I have to make a phone call, excuse me.”
The guys looked at each other not knowing what to do next.
“He’s right. Let’s get going.” Joey said.

**~*~*~*~**

Madison sat at her computer desk, she looked at the clock, 9:00. She was on a role with her current project. She got more work done in the half-hour she’d been working this morning than she did in her normal days at the office. ‘No interruptions’ she thought to herself.
::Ring, Ring::
“Uh. How ironic” she said aloud.
“Hello?” she answered.
“Hey Madison, its me.” She heard JC say.
“Hey JC. What’s wrong, you sound upset?” she asked, concerned.
“Well, Johnny just called. We gotta leave today.” He answered.
“Oh. Well, when do you leave?” she asked.
“We leave for the airport in an hour and a half.” He said.
“That soon!?” she asked
“Yeah. Madd, I’m sorry. I wanted to spend more time together.” He said apologetically.
“JC, it’s ok. You can’t help it. It’s your job, I understand that.” She said, meaning every word.
“I know you do. Too bad though, I want to see you.” He said.
“That might be able to be arranged.” She said.
“What do you mean?” JC said.
“I can meet you before you leave,” she said. “I’m working from home today, so I’ll just take a break.”
“You’d do that?” he asked.
“Of course, I’ll be there in a few minutes.” She said.
“Ok, I’ll meet you down in the lobby.” He said.
She hung up the phone. ‘Damn.’ She thought to herself. Why did he have to leave? Of course she knew the answer to that already. This was his job, and she loved him for his dedication. She got up and started to gather her stuff together. As she walked out the door, she smiled to herself. She was going to spend the last hour of Nsync’s New York stay with them, everybody should have such problems.
