Chapter 6

"So how did all this happen?" Melisa asked. Melisa and Nick had decided to go for a walk and talk about all that had happened so far.

"To tell you the truth, I really don't know. She just showed up on my doorstep today!" Nick said.

"But do you remember her?"

"No! I was probably too drunk. Who knows what happens while I'm drunk. All I know is that this was during the time of our break-up. I had begun drinking alot and spending a lot of my time at clubs. She's probably some slut that forced herself on me, but I swear to you that I don't remember her. I wasn't in the right state of mind!" It was obvious that Nick was panicking. He didn't want to lose Melisa again.

"Chill Nick! I believe you!" Melisa smiled. "So what are we gonna do about the bitch?"

Nick sighed. "I'm gonna have to marry her against my will. I always thought that I would marry someone I loved." Nick turned to face Melisa, looking into her eyes. "I always thought that I would marry you."

Melisa broke the gaze. "Um...maybe we shouldn't talk about that right now! So...um...how's life?"

"Melisa! Why are you trying to avoid this?"

"I...I just don't think I'm ready to think about marraige. It's too much. I may get married when I'm a bit older, but for now I don't want to be tied down." Melisa explained, trying to avoid the hurt expression Nick bore.

"I understand."

"So am I like supposed to keep away from you while you're married to her?" Melisa asked.

"NO! Don't do that! I would die if I was stuck alone with her." Nick feigned shock. His expression soon turned into a smile. "But no one said we had to be nice to her! We could drive her away! You know, like just be mean to her."

"Yeah, but I'm not a cruel person. I couldn't possibly do that!"

"Mel! Trying to get rid of that...that creature is not cruel! Come on! You gotta help me on this." Nick kneeled as he pleaded with Melisa.

Melisa laughed, stick her hand out to help Nick up. "Alright! I'll help you."
