The exes sitting just 6 seats apart in the LA's Shrine Auditorium grimly endured audience roars when AMA co-host Sharon Osbourne pleaded for a reconciliation as her kids Kelly and Jack plopped down on the pop stars. Meanwhile the other deafening buzz in the room was talk Spears is making beautiful music with Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst. "I really like her and that's about all I should say." the punctuation scorning rocker, 32, wrote on his website Jan 9, adding on Jan 11, "anybody out there who has a serious problem with my feelings for Britney should just chill." The two "are friends and they've hung out as friends will do," insists a rep for Durst; Spear's cap is mum. A pal points out that Durst previously linked to Christina Aguilera and Carmen Electra might not be above a publicity generating prank. Durst and Spears were recently spied together at a Party Jan 9 at LA's Latin Lounge. At the awards Timberlake and Spears, both 21 shield away from reporters and let their friends do the talking. In a surprisingly long, emotional stream-of-consciousness rant on his band's Website, www.limpbizkit.com, the bad-boy frontman of Limp Bizkit blasts the media and his fans for criticizing his relationship with the pop tartlett. He also calls their love "simple, honest and pure." And not once does he mention Nookie. Durst's online ode to the scantily clad chart-topper, which he posted on Monday, is rife with quotable soundbites. Among the highlights: - It is nobody's damn business who he dates. "Who really gives a sh*t if I wanna be with Britney Spear?" he writes. "The only person that should give a sh*t is Britney." - Justin, shmustin. "Yeah, she's a big POP star and her last relationship with another big POP star was a big deal, but damn, y'all need to chill." - He will not let his fans pick his girlfriend. "Do you think I should not like someone because you don't want me to? F*ck that!! You people are my family and I respect you as you should me." - Oops, she did it again. "I never meant to fall into all of this...I definitely have feelings for Britney...it is simple, honest and pure." - The media are making stuff up. A lot. "The media...is trying to create a lot of controversy. To them it's just more interesting to make up lies and crazy dramatic sh*t. I've heard and seen some unbelievable things since I started liking her." - And in spite of his tirade, "I don't give a f*ck about anything anyone thinks and definitely the media. Let's just drop this." This isn't the first time Durst addressed the Britney rumors online. On January 11, he posted a note reading "anybody out there who has a serious problem with my feelings for Britney should just chill and worry about your own feelings for a minute." And on January 9, he told fans that Britney's "a sweet amazing girl and I'm happy to know her right now." Whether Durst--single after breaking up with partner Jennifer Rovero in 2001--is serious remains to be seen. Spears' camp isn't telling. The singer's reps have not responded to calls from comment on her relationship with Durst. In any case, he may have some stiff competition for her affection with her ex Justin Timberlake, if gossip columnists are to be believed. In last week's Awful Truth E! Online columnist Ted Casablanca claimed the 'N Sync-er was recently seen "swapping spit and sneaking back to the pop princess' [New York] digs." In non-relationship news, Spears was recently nominated for two Grammy Awards for her 2002 effort Britney. She's up for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 45th annual installment of the awards show, which airs live Februrary 23 on CBS. Durst, meanwhile, says he is "dropping a sick and heavy album in a couple of months" and hopes "all the haters are lined up when this album drops because it's gonna knock 'em all down with a domino effect." After a brief romance which caused outrage among her fans, Britney
Spears has finally split from Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst,
according to reports.

The unlikely couple had been dating for just a few weeks.

Despite going out clubbing in Los Angeles together and enjoying the
high life afforded to such big stars, the pair found they were losing
the respect of their fans because of their choice of partner.

But no reason has yet been given for the break-up.

Durst compromised his grungy image to go out with Britney, and her
younger fans were disappointed she chose to date someone who didn't
fit with her squeaky-clean image.

Over the past few weeks, Durst has been urging his fans to "chill"
out about his relationship, describing Britney as "sweet"
and "amazing".

But the blonde former children's television presenter has remained
quiet on the issue.

The latest to be ensnared in Britney's web is Hollywood horndog Colin Farrell, who smooched with her Saturday night at an L.A. nightclub. Spears pounced on Farrell at the Troubadour, where Irish folk singer Damien Rice performed. Spears was among Farrell's loud, hard- drinking, chain-smoking entourage in the club's VIP lounge, where our spies spotted them tongue-wrestling. LEAVE HER ALONE!!! She's 21 for God's sake. Do you know how you were or will be at 21??? As her publicist said, she's a beautiful girl...she's going to date. Get over it people!! Colin's hot - needs an attitude adjustment - but if I had a dime for every dating mistake I made I would probably be as rich as Britney herself! She seems to have her head on her shoulders, but in the event she gets emotionally hurt, live and learn. It's not the world's and her fans job to protect her from getting her heart broken. I'm sure she could do that all on her own.
