BUSTY Geri Halliwell stooped to conquer new fans yesterday - and showed she is really big-hearted.

The ex-Spice Girl, 30, bounced in with the girls from Popstars: The Rivals to visit children on a cancer ward at London's Middlesex Hospital.

But a boob by organisers left kids in tears at another hospital.

Young patients on a cancer ward at the Royal London Hospital were also expecting a visit from Popstars judge Geri.

But a notice cancelling the visit was picked up 90 minutes AFTER she was expected.

Organisers Cancer Research UK promised to send Geri CDs and signed pictures to the youngsters.

At one point, Melanie was so depressed about her weight that she thought about giving it all away. "I thought I should do something else," she said last week. "But then i decided that this is what i want to do, so i'm back."

Melanie looked brilliant at the MTV awards.She has clearly been going to the gymnasium and fine tuning her eating habits.

She's also been fine tuning placements of her songs.

Melanie, whose real surname is Chisholm, is said to have disliked her name being linked with Australian songstress Holly Valance.

Valance chose Mel's song Footprints for her debut album.

One source said "she didn't want to be associated with her at all, and demanded that her name be removed from the writing credits".

Melanie has also been fine tuning her boyfriends.

"I've finally found someone who's not an arse," she said last week, referring to her boyfriend of 12 months, Thomas starr, who is a construction boss.

Sporty Spice Melanie C has spoken for the first time of the kidnap ordeal of bandmate Victoria Beckham. 

According to UK Tabloid The Sun, at the EMI aftershow party, Melanie said the alleged plot to snatch Posh and her two sons which saw the subsequent arrest of five men, was "horrific and terrible". 

She said: "I don't understand why anybody should go through this. My thoughts are with her." Melanie, showing off her stunning new slimline figure, also quashed rumours of a Spice Girls comeback tour. She said: "I have no plans to get back with the Spice Girls."

Jackie Adams is talking about the horrifying notes her daughter has received since she was at the centre of an alleged  kidnap plot last weekend.

Jackie has been at her daughter's side from the moment the former Spice Girl knew she and sons Brooklyn and Romeo were at risk.

But in many ways the worst was yet to come as death threats and cruel taunts poured through the letterbox.

"What kind of deranged person would send a letter saying that someone like Victoria deserved to be kidnapped?" she asks in desperation.

"You may not be able to believe it but we've had threatening letters saying that they wished someone would kidnap or even kill Victoria, Brooklyn and Romeo.

"What kind of person would wish that on anyone? It is my daughter and grandchildren they are taking about. I just can't understand it. What have Victoria and David done to deserve it?"

It is no wonder Jackie is so protective of her 28-year-old daughter, who since news of the plot emerged last Saturday has been too scared to leave the couple's "Beckingham Palace" mansion at Sawbridgeworth, Herts.

The gang, arrested last week, are said to have bragged that they planned to take Victoria - and her two sons if they were with her - to a house in Brixton, South London, where she would be held captive in a 
specially adapted "cell" until their £5million demands were met. The would-be kidnappers even discussed killing the hostages.

Victoria was told of the plot last Saturday afternoon but kept her terror secret from her soccer star husband until his game for Manchester United was over.

No one has been charged in connection with the alleged kidnap plot despite a 10-day police probe.

"Victoria is very shocked by the whole thing and just hasn't felt like leaving the safety of the house," said Jackie.

"I have been with her all week trying to comfort her, but obviously it is not something someone can get over very easily."

No one is closer to their mother than Victoria Beckham is to Jackie. Mum and daughter do everything together. They go shopping together, Blonde Jackie was at the birth of both Brooklyn and Romeo, virtually lives with the couple and is a totally hands-on grandmother to the couple's two sons.

Jackie, who looks a lot like her daughter, asks: "How would you feel if you heard someone wanted to do harm to your family? She is very nervous about the whole thing. It 's terrible to know unlike other grans I can't just take the kids to the park to play on the swings and know they will be safe.

"It is something that Victoria and I are too fearful to do with all these people out there who would do that to our family."

Jackie, 53, is anxious to get across the message that life for David and Victoria is a far from a fairytale despite a fortune estimated at .

As she drinks a strawberry daiquiri at the party to celebrate the opening of Jamie Oliver's new restaurant Fifteen in London's trendy Shoreditch, Jackie leaves you in no doubt of her devotion to Victoria 
and her England captain husband David.

"I have to be so careful what I say," she giggles, taking another sip but before she can stop herself indignantly adds: "But you know David wasn't allowed to even take a week off work to be with his family?"

Do you think Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson should have let him spend some time with his family, I inquire. "My lips are sealed," she says.

Jackie is turned out immaculately in a fitted black pinstripe suit with a stunning necklace draped across her tanned chest.

She seems excited to be at the party and asks without irony: "So tell me which celebrities are here then?" Jackie, 53, then tells me how she'd had a personal tour of the kitchen by Jamie himself. "He's lovely," she giggles.

Joking aside, there is no doubt that despite her tiny figure - she only just makes it over 5ft - Jackie is a force to be reckoned with.

And God help anyone who dares insult Victoria. Already that night she'd stormed up to Capital Radio DJ Neil Fox and given him a piece of her mind for a comment she happened to hear him make on radio.

"I just had to go up and tell him off on her behalf," she smirks puffing herself up to look as tough as possible.

"He said something the other day about how it was no wonder Victoria looked so good so soon after having Romeo, because she doesn't have to get up in the middle of the night to see to him because she's probably got an army of nannies.

"Well I just had to tell him she doesn't have a nanny. It is Victoria who always gets up in the night. She'd rather die then employ someone to look after her two children. She does everything herself and is a 
very good mother.

"The only nannies she has are me and David's mum Sandra. She just wouldn't want anyone else looking after them."

Jackie is proud of her closeness to Victoria and her other daughter Louise, 24, who has two children - Liberty, two, and six-month-old Tallulah.

"I was at all four births of my grandchildren," she says. "There I was in my robe and hat and it was beautiful to watch. I wouldn't have missed it for the world."

Both Brooklyn, three, and two-month-old Romeo were born by caesarean section, but not because Victoria was "too posh to push" like many other celebrity mums.

"Victoria had to have caesareans because the babies weren't in the right position for a natural birth," insists Jackie. "I hate it when people say things about Victoria when they're not true. Both Louise's 
kids were by caesarean, too."

So how did Posh manage to slim down to her original svelte self within weeks?

"It was healthy eating. Cross my heart and hope to die," making the sign of the cross on her chest. "She did no yoga, no pilates, none of all that. Just eating healthily."

Looking at Jackie you can see where she has inherited her slim frame from.

Laughing, Jackie adds: "I can't get into Victoria's clothes at all. They're far too tiny."

Then she is off again, berating those who dare criticise Victoria in the way only mums can do.

"Victoria and David are the most lovely couple you'll ever meet. I can't understand why people say horrible things about them."

Jealousy, I suggest. She nods. "Perhaps. It's not like they go out clubbing and drinking and taking drugs every night."

Jackie has devoted her life to Victoria's celebrity status. Every day she sits snipping out Press clippings about Victoria. "I have 400 scrap books of articles," she tells me.

It's no surprise that Jackie has a reputation for confronting journalists who have written unfavourable pieces about her daughter. 

"I remember most of them, especially the bad ones," she says menacingly.

"I recognised your face from your picture you know," she adds, clearly trying to recall if I have ever committed a sin against her family.

As the party thins out Jackie and Victoria's dad Tony decide to leave. 

"Victoria has loaned us her driver for the night," she says proudly. So we can just fall asleep in the back."

But according to the dendener Spice Beats , Melanie C didn't like the song so she dumped it  from Northern Star.

Now her record label gave this song , written by our very own Sporty, to the sexy singer Holly Valence .

But the rude Holly didn't give any credits to Mel on her album .

VICTORIA BECKHAM has bounced back from her kidnap scare by signing a £1.5million record deal – and will be in the studio next month. 

Pals predicted that the singer, who gave birth to son Romeo just two months ago, was going to turn her back on showbiz.

But I can reveal that Posh will go into the studio in the next few weeks to start work on her new album.

A pal of Victoria’s said at the Music Industry Trust dinner: “She is ready to start work and is not letting the events of last week get in the way.

“Victoria is not letting this wreck her career. She is getting straight back into the studio and has some time booked already.”

Many thought Victoria would step out of the limelight after the plot to kidnap her — and her sons — was foiled by journalists from the News of the World.

One pal did comment: “She’s had it with showbiz for at least a year — maybe even for ever.

“She is putting everything on hold. She’s had enough and is going to concentrate on her family.”

But Victoria is set to show her would-be kidnappers that she hasn’t been scared off and her record deal with Telstar is a fresh new start.

My source said: “Victoria is over the moon with Telstar. It’s the same label as CRAIG DAVID and he has had massive success.

“She suffered a traumatic ordeal last week when she learned of the kidnap plans but she is a determined young woman and this is her way of fighting back. She won’t give up until she’s proved herself as a solo singer.”

The new record deal is not the only project in the pipeline for Posh.

She is also planning an update to her autobiography Learning To Fly, which came out last year.

My source said: “Victoria has so much more to tell. She’s had a new baby for a start so a new book is being planned.”

Victoria will hope her second solo singing deal is more successful than the first.

She parted company with Virgin Records in June when her debut album flopped, selling just 50,000 copies.

Close friend of the Beckhams, ELTON JOHN, has been offering the couple support since the weekend, and he told me: “I’m going to give them some advice as to who they should hire for security.

“It’s so sad, but life goes on and with good family and good friends it will be fine. But it’s a horrible thing.”

Yesterday, the gang suspected of plotting to kidnap Posh were behind bars awaiting trial after appearing in court on unrelated charges of theft and conspiracy to rob.

The five men were arrested at the weekend, with two more men and a woman, after the plans to abduct Victoria were foiled.

It was claimed they planned to seize the former Spice Girl as she drove out of the gates of her home, known as Beckingham Palace, in Sawbridgeworth, Herts.

The gang allegedly imported chloroform spray to subdue the singer and intended to hold her hostage in Brixton until hubbie DAVID BECKHAM paid a £5million ransom.

The collector's items, available on ebay this week, will help to raise money for Tommy's, the baby charity, as it celebrates its tenth anniversary.

Tommy's, the baby charity was founded in 1992 and aims to discover the causes and ways of preventing stillbirth, miscarriage and prematurity.

Some of you may have read in the papers recently about a dispute over Peterborough United wanting to use the name 'Posh'. 

Below is a statement which explains the situation to prevent any confusion.

'Amazing, in view of recent events, Victoria Beckham has been drawn into a dispute over the use of the name Posh. 

A second division football club Peterborough United were planning to register the trademark Posh and The Posh for use in 

every way from cosmetics to records! 

Whilst Victoria accepts that the football club are nicknamed Posh, and might want to use the name in association with 

football products there is no conceivable reason why they should need blanket coverage for every class of goods. 

The name Posh is inexorably associated with Victoria Beckham in the public's mind, and the concern from her team is that they 

(the public) would think she had in some way endorsed products she had no knowledge of. 

Her legal team have written to the club in an attempt to reach an agreement that works for both parties, but as of yet have 

not had a response.'
 

2.NEW RECORD DEAL 

We are delighted to announce that Victoria has signed a new record deal with Telstar Records, home to artists such as Misteeq and Craig David.

She is due to start recording before Christmas with a new release due some time next year.

Five people have been arrested for allegedly planning to kidnap Victoria Beckham. 

They were held for conspiring to kidnap the former Spice Girl, the wife of England captain David Beckham, and for theft, Scotland Yard said.
 

One of those arrested was a woman.

The group, reported to be Albanians and Romanians, were detained following two separate police raids in London on Saturday.

The gang is reported to have been infiltrated by two undercover News of the World reporters.

The raids were in London Docklands and in Surrey.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Four men and one woman have been arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service Serious and Organised Crime Command for offences of theft and conspiracy to kidnap, following information passed to the police by the News of the World.

"They are currently being held in custody."

Victoria watched her husband play for Manchester United against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Mrs Beckham, 28, knew of the plot - and of the police operation - but did not tell her husband until after the game.

Manchester United refused to comment.

It is understood police stumbled on the plot after the News of the World tipped off Scotland Yard about a Romanian and Albanian gang who were planning major art thefts.

They raided addresses and then found evidence of the plan to snatch Mrs Beckham.

Police last year uncovered plans to kidnap the couple's first son Brooklyn.

Geri here, just wanted to update you all what I've been up to since the release of "Calling" almost a year ago! Can't believe we are near the end of 2002 already!

As you have probably seen from recent press my second book 'Just For The Record' was released in September. It is my account of events in my life since I left The Spice Girls. Most of the new pictures were taken in LA, as I spent most of the early part of this year there. 

I have also been buy with another Yoga video, which is to be released later this month. That was also shot in LA and again I had a great time making it.

Unless you have been living on another planet you will also know that I am currently a judge on 'Popstars- The Rivals', alongside Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh. I have loved taking part in the show. Now we are down to the live element and I'm glad it's down to the public to vote for who they want to stay in the band. It would be such a hard decision.

I'm also please to say that I have started work on some new tracks so, it's early days yet but, hopefully I'll have some new stuff for the release sometime in the new year!

The TV company has spent £750,000 on the rebranding and the new adverts are being shown from today.

Other adverts include Gaby Roslin, Trevor McDonald and Chris Tarrant who have been filmed standing or sitting against yellow and blue backgrounds.

FORMER Spice Girl MEL B is about to become really scary — by starring in a horror film.

The singer is launching a new career as an actress and her first big break is in LD50 — a film about animal activists who make a terrifying discovery when they break into a research laboratory.
