CHAPTER SIXTEEN:When you got to the bottom of the stairs, you looked in the living room and there you saw AJ laying in the middle of the floor on his back with all of his dogs close to him. You couldn't help laughing at the site of a grown man rolling around on the floor playing with his dogs, but you had to admit that it was that playfulness in him that you liked so much, among alot of other things of course. You have always had a thing for guys who were good with animals and AJ was definitely good with his. He heard you giggling as you stood there in the doorway watching him, so he sat up and said, "What's so funny?" (U)- "Nothing at all. Did you call Kevin?" (AJ)- "Yeah, he just wanted to make sure that everything went ok last night and to see if we needed him for anything" (U)- "Cool. Did he say what they were getting into today because I forgot to ask Kris about it when I talked to her?" (AJ)- "He said that they are going to go shopping or something but that maybe the four of us could get together and go out to dinner or something later, depending on what time everyone gets home from running around today" (U)- "That sounds fun. What did you tell him?" (AJ)- "I told him that I would mention it to you and have you call them later and let them know" (U)- "Ok" (AJ)-"Will you do me a favor?" (U)- "Sure, what is it?" (AJ)- "Will you take these guys (pointing at his dogs) to the kitchen and let them out back?" (U)- "Ok, I'm hungry anyway. Come on babies" you said, calling to the dogs. They ran off after you, following you into the kitchen as they often did. They loved you as if they were yours and sometimes AJ would even get upset because they would choose to lay on the couch with you as opposed to laying with him. That could be because ever since the day he bought them, you spoiled them. Anyway, you were just about to open the kitchen door to let them out when something on the table caught your eye. It was a huge white teddy bear with a big yellow ribbon tied around it's neck and a card on it's lap.! Your curiosity got the better of you, so you walked over to the table to see if you could read the card, or atleast see who it was to, thinking that AJ had a new girlfriend that you didn't know about yet, although you didn't really see how he could with as busy as he had been lately. You had now completely forgotten about letting the dogs out which was the main reason that you had went into the kitchen in the first place, and instead, you reach out and picked up the card after first taking a quick look around to make sure that AJ wasn't anywhere around to see you doing it. As you looked at the card, you saw that it had your name on it, so thinking that maybe it had been delivered this morning before you were up, maybe as a make-up gift from Jake, you opened it up and read it. It was a "thinking of you" card that was blank on the inside so that the sender could write their own message to the person that they were giving it to. Here is what was written inside:Dear *******,
Just a little something to say that I hope you are feeling a little better today. Now you won't have to be alone at night anymore and anytime you are scared, just think of me and hold this bear and it will hold you back.
Love, Bone. A huge smile covered your face as you put the card back in the envelope and laid it on the table so that you could pick up the bear. You held it in your arms and though to yourself how sweet and thoughtful that was of AJ to do that for you and you were so deep in your thoughts that you hadn't realized that he was standing in the doorway smiling at your reaction to his gift. (AJ)- "I thought you were going to let these dogs out girl" The sound of his voice startled you out of your thoughts, but when you looked over and saw him standing there, you walked over to him and hugged him tightly. (U)- "You never wanted me to let the dogs out. You just had to get me out here so that I would see this. Is this why I couldn't find you this morning?" (AJ)- "Guilty. I take it you like it?" (U)- "Are you kidding? I love it!" (AJ)- "Cool" (U)- "You are a sneaky little devil aren't you?" (AJ)- "Well, sneaky and a devil for sure, but definitely not little" he laughed. (U)- "Oh God, that was more than I needed to hear!" (AJ)- "Why, it's true" (U)- "If you say so" (AJ)- "You think not? I will show you right now" he said as he started to undo the button on his jeans. (U)- "That's quite alright, I'll take your word for it because I don't exactly need to know that about my best friend" you said while laughing. (AJ)- "Ok, but if you change your mind, be sure and let me know" (U)- "Oh, I'll be sure to do that" (AJ)- "So, can we go now? I wanna see you get a tattoo" (U)- "I told you that I don't know if I will get one. I am just tagging along with you, and no, we can't go yet because I still haven't ate and I'm hungry" (AJ)- "Come on, we'll stop and get you something on the way" (U)- "Alright, let's go then". AJ put his dogs outside in the backyard, locked up, and you guys headed out to the garage and climbed into his Tahoe, soon to be on your way to the tattoo parlor. As promised, AJ stopped at a drive-thru and got you some lunch and himself a coke. You ate while he drove. The two of you talked about everything under the sun and listened to lots of songs on the radio and before you knew it, the hour drive was over and it had only seemed like minutes. AJ finished what had to be his 6th or 7th coke since you had gotten up that morning as you guys got out of the truck and walked through the parking lot. (U)- "Do you think that you've had enough coke this morning?" you asked as he threw yet another empty bottle into the trash can just inside the front door. (AJ)- "I sure hope so. You should know by now that I have to have a major caffeine high to do this. It helps put me in a zone so that it doesn't hurt so much" (U)- "Well, to be honest with you, I haven't paid attention to your drinking habits and I don't think that I have ever been with you before when you got one done, however, I can tell you that by you telling me that it hurts alot, you have just lessened the already slim chances of me getting one" (AJ)- Awww, come on *****! It's not that bad once they get started. You just have to relax and you will be fine" (U)- "I don't know about that. You are stronger than me, and if it hurts you, it just might kill me! What are you getting anyway?" (AJ)- "I was thinking about getting a chameleon on my calf. (I know that he doesn't really have that...just pretend). I still say that should have been my nickname instead of bone because I am always changing. I am even going to get him half yellow and half purple to show that" (U)- "That sounds really cool. It will look good on you" (AJ)- "Glad you think so. What do you want to get?" (U)- "I don't know if I am going to get anything, and if I do, I have no idea what I would want it to be. I think I might get my belly button pierced though" (AJ)- "That would totally rock, but you should still get a tattoo. Let's go look at the pictures and see what they can do. Maybe that will give you an idea" he said as he took your hand and led you to the wall in the corner. You hadn't been there too long when one of the men who worked there came over to find you and AJ flipping through the pages of the binders full of pictures. The man introduced himself as Matt and shook hands with AJ, then said "So what can I do for you guys today?" AJ looked at you and then back over at Matt and said, "Well....
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:(AJ)- "I want to get a tattoo on my calf and my girl here is going to watch and then decide if she wants to get one too" he said with a smile as he looked at you. You smiled back at him thinking to yourself "did he just call me his girl? I wonder what he meant by that" You shrugged it off as nothing as Matt said "Sure thing. Follow me. He led you guys over to his little area of the shop and had AJ get on the reclining leather couch and brought a chair over for you to sit on. You scooted your chair up by AJ's head so that you could talk to him as Matt took a seat down by AJ's leg and asked him, "So what did you want me to put on here?" (AJ)- "I want a chameleon that is half purple and half yellow" (Matt)- "No problem" He put on his rubber gloves, got out his colored ink and his needles, and then he started the tattoo on AJ's leg. You watched as he first used black ink to make the outline of the design that had been drawn onto AJ's leg, and then he changed needles to start coloring it in. Throughout all of this, you had been watching AJ's face for any sign of pain or something that would somehow make you decide against getting one yourself, however, there was none. Instead, AJ and Matt were making small talk about tattoos and stuff as if nothing was even happening. You thought to yourself that it couldn't hurt all that much if AJ could just sit there like that, and you had to admit that you did think it would be cool to get one. You were sitting there lost in your thoughts when you finally heard AJ talking to you. (AJ)- "Hello!!!! Earth to ******!" (U)- "Ummm...What? Were you talking to me?" (AJ)- "Uh, yes! For about five minutes now" he said with a laugh. "What were you thinking about?" (U)- "Tattoos" (Matt)- "Oh come on now...does it really look that bad?" (U)- "Actually, no it doesn't. That's what I was thinking about because I really thought that it would be terrible, but AJ is just sitting there like it is nothing" (AJ)- "I told you it wasn't that bad. It only hurts at first but then it goes numb and you can't feel it at all" (Matt)- "And it looks like he should know" he said, pointing to AJ's arms. You all had a little laugh over that. (AJ)- "So? What do you think? Are you going to get one?" (U)- "I'm not totally sure just yet, but I definitely want to get my belly button pierced" (Matt)- "Well, that's a start" (AJ)- "Yes, it is. You had better decide soon though because mine is almost done" You got up from your chair and walked down by Matt's to look at how AJ's chameleon was looking so far. Matt had done a really good job and you really liked how it looked, so you made up your mind to go for it and get one too. (U)- "That looks great Jay. I think I will be brave and get one myself" (AJ)- "Really? That's so cool. Where are you going to get it at and what is it going to be of?" (U)- "Well, I want to get something small and quick, just incase in case it hurts me more than it does you, so I thought that I would go with a dolphin down on my ankle since I have always liked the beach" (AJ)- "That will look good" (U)- "You think so?" (AJ)- "Totally" (Matt)- "I agree. We do dolphins on ladies all the time. Very popular choice" (U)- "Ok" (Matt)- "So, do you want to do the tattoo or the belly button ring first, because this guy is done and you are up? he said as he finished taping the bandage over AJ's leg. (U)- "Let's do the tattoo first and get it over with before I lose my nerve and change my mind" (AJ)- "You won't. I will be right here beside you holding your hand the whole time and if it hurts you, you can squeeze as hard as you want" (U)- "Thanks". AJ got up from the couch and switched you places. He sat in your chair and you took his place on the couch. Matt put on a fresh pair of gloves and got some new needles ready, then he put the outline of the tattoo that you picked out onto your ankle with erasable ink. He picked up his needle, getting ready to go over the outline with black ink, just as he had done to AJ and he noticed you jump a little. (Matt)- "Just relax. If you tense up it will hurt a lot more" (U)- "I'll try" you said as you closed your eyes and took a deep breath. You felt AJ grip your hand and you heard the buzzing of the needle as it got closer to your leg. Matt started going over the outline and much to your surprise, AJ was right and it didn't hurt all that bad. It really felt like a cat scratch or something, but you kept a hold of AJ's hand all the same. About a half an hour later, the tattoo was done and the time had just flown by because you AJ, and Matt were all talking and laughing the whole time. (Matt)- "Ok, you are all done. You want to take a look at it before I cover it up?" (U)- "It's really done? That wasn't bad at all" (AJ)- "I told you" (Matt)- "Yes, it's all done" (U)- "Wow...it looks so cool" (Matt)- "I'm glad that you like it. Just let me clean this up and then I will go and get the stuff to pierce your belly button, ok?" (U)- "Ok, thanks". Matt threw away the used needles and gloves and put all of his inks back in the cabinet and then he left the room to go and get the other stuff that he needed. On his way out though, he told you to go ahead and pull your shirt up past your belly button so that you would be ready when he got back. (U)- "AJ, I have a little problem here" (AJ)- "What's that?" (U)- "I'm in a sundress. If I have to pull it up, I will be laying in front of him in my underwear and I can't do that" (AJ)- "Shit, I didn't think about that or I would have said something to you before we left the house so that you could have worn something else" (U)- "Like what? This is all that I brought from my house yesterday because who knew that I would end up having to stay with you?" (AJ)- "That's true. We'll have to go by your house when we leave here so that you can get some of your stuff" (U)- "I don't know if that's a good idea. What if Jake is there?" (AJ)- "I'm not scared of his ass, and besides that, you need your clothes unless you want to walk around naked all the time" (U)- "Ha ha! We'll figure that out later. Right now we need to figure out what we are going to do about this whole belly button thing before Matt comes back" (AJ)- "Ok, what if I give you my shirt to cover up with? Is that cool?" (U)- "Yeah, that's cool but you have to turn around until I cover myself up with it because you don't need to see my underwear either" you said with a laugh. (AJ)- "Well damn, what am I getting out of this deal then? he teased. (U)- "Just give it to me!" (AJ)- "What do you want me to give you exactly?" (U)- "Your shirt, pervert!" (AJ)- "Oh ok. I just wanted to make sure that's what you meant" he laughed as he slipped his shirt off and gave it to you. (U)- "Whatever!" He turned his back to you as you laid on the couch and pulled your dress up enough to give Matt enough room to do what he would need to do. You then quickly covered yourself up and told AJ that he could turn around just as Matt came back through the door. (Matt)- "Are you ready?" (U)- "Yep" (Matt)- "Ok, this will pinch a little" he said as he stood over you and shot the belly button ring into your belly button. You jumped a little but it was over pretty quick. (AJ)- "You ok?" (U)- "Yeah, it just stung a little, that's all" (AJ)- "Alright" (Matt)- "So, is there anything else I can do for you two today?" (AJ)-"No man, I'm good to go" (U)- "Actually, since that first tattoo was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, I was wondering if it would be too much trouble to get another one before we go?" (AJ)- "What?!" (Matt)- "Not at all. What did you want to get?" (U)- "Well, since I already have my shirt up, I was thinking that you could put "Baby Girl" in purple letters above my belly button with a yellow rose between the words" (Matt)- "I would be happy to do that. Just let me get my things together" (U)- "Sure, take your time". You looked over at AJ and saw a huge smile on his face. You knew exactly what he was smiling about so you just smiled back at him without saying anything. Baby Girl was his nickname for you and he is the only one who calls you that, even though everyone knows about it. Plus, you were getting it done in his two favorite colors on top of that. You weren't even sure why you were doing it or why you were having that put on your body, it just came to you and you really wanted to do it. Matt came back over to his chair and began to work on your second tattoo of the day and AJ returned to the chair by your head, still in amazement of what you were doing. This one hurt a little more than the first one did but you guys still talked and laughed through it and about an hour and a half later, it was done and you were ready to go. Matt left so that you could give AJ back his shirt and get yourself together and when you were ready, you and AJ headed out to the front of the store to meet Matt at the check out counter so that he could give you your totals. AJ's was $160 and yours had come to $230 for everything that you had gotten. You started to reach for your purse to pay your bill when AJ looked at you and said "What are you doing?" (U)- "Uh, I was going to pay the man" (AJ)- "No, you're not! I told you that if you came here with me today and you got a tattoo that I was paying for it" (U)- "Yes, but that was for one tattoo. Not two and a belly button ring" (AJ)- "We never said what it was for. I just said that if you got Anything that I was going to pay for it" (U)- "Well, that's too much, especially after you bought me that teddy bear this morning" (AJ)- "How are you going to tell me what is too much? Just let me do this. I want to. Can't I do something nice for my best friend?" (U)- "AJ, you have done more than enough for me already" (AJ)- "That's for me to decide, now put your money away" he said as he handed Matt his credit card. (U)- "Fine, but if we go out to dinner later with Kevin and Kristin, I am paying for Both of us!" (AJ)- "We'll see about that" (U)- You think that we will see about it hard head" Matt laughed at you two arguing back and forth as he thanked you both for your business. You thanked him for doing such an excellent job and then you and AJ left the shop and headed for his truck. (U)- "So, how long do I have to leave these bandages on?" you asked him once you were inside the truck. (AJ)- "About an hour or so. Just long enough to make sure that the bleeding has stopped" (U)- "Ok. I have never had one of these before so you will have to help me take care of it, you know with having to put that A&D ointment on it all the time and stuff" (AJ)- "No problem. What do you think that everyone else will say when they see what you have done?" (U)- "Oh, I'm sure that they will be surprised, especially since no one but Nick, Kevin, and Kristin knew that we were going today" (AJ)- "That's right, I forgot that everyone else had already left when we started talking about it" (U)- "Yeah, Kristin is probably going to freak when she sees it. She told me that I was crazy if I went through with it" (AJ)- "I remember" he laughed. (U)- "I guess that's what I get for hanging around with you so much. You are starting to wear off on me" (AJ)- "Bite me" (U)- "No, you might like it?" (AJ)- "This is true" (U)- "Ugh! Shut up" you laughed. You guys continued to laugh and talk for the rest of the drive and soon you were back at AJ's house. He didn't pull up into the driveway though. Instead he just stopped on the street in front of his house. (U)- "What are you doing?" (AJ)- "Well, I thought that before we got out of the truck and went inside that we should go on over to your house and get some of your stuff. I mean, we are already out and if you want to go to dinner later you might need some stuff" (U)- "Yeah, I would like to wear something that will show off these new tattoos and belly button ring that I got today, but I don't know about going over there, especially today" (AJ)- "Why, what's the difference?" (U)- "Today is Sunday and Jake is almost always home on Sundays, plus what happened last night will still be on his mind" (AJ)- "So? If he even thinks about laying a hand on you I will kill him. I'm not going to let anything happen, ok? Besides that, it's not like you live that far away, and even if we don't go out tonight, if you don't go over there and get your stuff, what will you wear tomorrow?" (U)- "That's true. I didn't think about that" (AJ)- "So, what do you say?" (U)- "Alright, let's go. I will just pray that he is out somewhere on a Sunday for a change" (AJ)- "Cool". You guys made the 15 minute drive in silence as you were much too nervous to talk. You just kept thinking "what am I going to do if Jake is there and what is going to happen", however, as AJ pulled into your driveway, you were relieved to see that Jake's truck was not there. AJ turned off his truck and you both got out and headed for your front door...
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN:
As you walked into the house, you took a look around just to make sure that no one was there because although you hadn't seen Jake's truck outside when you pulled up, you never can tell with him. The TV was off and none of the lights were on, so satisfied that it was just you and AJ, you went upstairs to get some of your stuff. (U)- "Ok, I'm gonna try and do this quick because I don't want him coming home and finding us here" (AJ)- "Why? This is your house too and you have a right to get your stuff" he said as he followed you through the door of your bedroom. (U)- "I know, I just don't want another confrontation, that's all" (AJ)- "That's cool. I understand". You grabbed a suitcase from the bottom of your closet and you began throwing anything and everything into it that you could fit. You took all of the clothes out of the closet and then you went for your dresser, cleaning out all of the drawers, one by one from top to bottom. AJ sat on the edge of the bed by the suitcase watching in amusement as the pile inside of it grew higher and higher. (AJ)- "You do realize that this is never going to close don't you?" (U)- "Yes it will, why wouldn't it?" you asked, not even looking up from what you were doing. (AJ)- "Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you have enough stuff thrown into it for ten people. Damn girl, how many clothes do you need anyway?" You turned around at that point and saw that AJ was right. You had a ton of stuff packed already and you hadn't even started on your stuff in the bathroom like your brushes and curling iron and stuff like that yet. (U)- "It's not that I actually need all of it. I just don't want to leave any of it behind because once Jake sees that I was here and that I took some of it, there is no telling what he might do to the rest of it" (AJ)- "Good point. Well, I think that I can help you out if you don't have any other suitcase or anything" (U)- "I don't. this is all I have other than the bag that's already at your house" (AJ)- "No problem. I have a duffel bag that I keep in the truck for when we are traveling and stuff. I'll run down and get it for you and you can throw some of this stuff in there" (U)- "Cool, thanks" (AJ)- "You got it". He left the room to go and get the bag as you continued gathering up your stuff. About five minutes later, you heard the downstairs door close and someone coming up the stairs. (U)- "Hurry AJ, I want to get this stuff packed and get out of here. I think I am finally finished". You were sitting on the bed, on top of your suitcase trying to get it to close when you heard a voice in the doorway that wasn't AJ's say "What do you think you are doing?" Surprised, you looked up to see Mandy standing there and you couldn't believe your eyes. (U)- "What the hell are you doing in my house?" (Mandy)- "Well first of all, last time I checked this was Jakes house too, and furthermore, not like it's any of your business but I am staying here now" (U)- "Yeah right, tell me another one" (Mandy)- "I don't care if you believe me or not. Since you got me thrown out of Nick's and I had nowhere else to go, and since you chose to whore around over at AJ's instead of coming home with your boyfriend like you should have, Jake told me that I could stay here until I found somewhere to go" (U)- "Somehow I am not surprised by that. Maybe Kristin was right when she said that you and Jake were probably sleeping together all along and that is why you both suspect everyone else. Besides, you got kicked out of Nick's all by yourself. You didn't need my help for that" (Mandy)- "I think not bitch" (U)- "You are the only bitch here Mandy, now if you will excuse me, I have some packing to do" (Mandy)- "Why waste your time? Jake won't let you go" (U)- "Jake has no choice in the matter. I will be gone before he gets home from where ever he is" (Mandy)- "Oh, and just where are you going to live, or do I even have to ask?" (U)- "That's none of your business" (Mandy)- "He'll find you. He's not just going to let you go to be with AJ". You looked at her with a look that could have easily killed and just as you were about to say something back to her, AJ came back into your room. (AJ)- "I can hear you two yelling all the way outside" (U)- "Yeah, well it's a good thing that you got here when you did because 2 seconds more and she would have been on the ground" (Mandy)- "Oh please! Whatever!" (U)- "Try me" (AJ)- "Why are you here anyway and where did you come from because you were nowhere around when I went out?" he said looking at Mandy. (Mandy)- "I just pulled up and I am staying here now since that little slut broke up my relationship with Nick" (AJ)- "Oh really? I thought that you did a good job of that on your own" (U)- "Told you" (Mandy)- "Ugh! Just shut up! I am going downstairs. Hopefully you will hurry up and leave" she said as she turned and walked out of your room. You were about to go after her when AJ said "Just let it go. You are better than her, and besides that, you are never going to finish packing at this rate" (U)- "You're right. She just makes me so mad. What took you so long anyway?" you asked him as you took the bag from him and shoved the rest of your stuff in it. (AJ)- "Oh, Kev rang my cell while I was outside so I was talking to him" (U)- "I see. So, what's up with him?" (AJ)- "Not much. He just said that he and Kris would meet us over at Planet Hollywood around 7:00 if we still wanted to have dinner with them" (U)- "Cool. That sounds good to me" you said as you zipped up the bag. (AJ)- "You done?" (U)- "Yep. Let's get out of here". You threw the duffel bag over your shoulder as AJ grabbed the suitcase and you both went downstairs. Without another word to Mandy, you guys left the house, loaded your stuff into AJ's truck, and you left, heading back to AJ's house. When you got there, it was almost 5:00 so you guys carried your stuff inside and up to his room, agreeing that you would work out the sleeping arrangements later and you both decided that it was time to go and get ready to meet up with Kevin and Kristin. AJ was going to use the shower in his room and you were going to use the one in the main hallway so that way it would save some time instead of one of you waiting on the other one to get done. You dug through your stuff, scattering it all over the floor until you found what you wanted to wear as well as everything else that you would need to get ready and then you hurried off to the bathroom where you showered, got dressed, and did your make-up, being careful to cover up all of the bruises and cuts that were on your face from the night before. You ended up wearing a pair of low-cut tight Levi's with a baby blue belly shirt that said "hottie" in hot pink. You pulled your hair up leaving only a few strands hanging down and finally, when you were happy with the way you looked, you went to find AJ. His room was empty and you knew that it didn't take him nearly as long to get ready as it did you, so you figured that he must be downstairs. Sure enough, when you got down there, he was there planted in front of the TV. (U)- "Are you ready?" (AJ)- "Yes" he said, not looking away from the TV and not getting up. (U)- "Ok, let's go then" (AJ)- "Ok" he said, still not moving. You rolled your eyes as you walked over to the TV and turned it off. (AJ)- "Hey, I was watching that" (U)- "Sorry, but we have to go so that we can get there on time. Otherwise Kevin will have a fit" you laughed. (AJ)- "I know that's right" he said, looking at you for the first time since you had come in the room. However, much to your surprise, he was not just looking but staring at you. (U)- "What's wrong?" (AJ)- "Nothing, it's just that you look really hott" (U)- "Why, thank you" you said with a really big smile. "And who says that you don't have a sweet side?" (AJ)- "Ok, don't get used to it or anything now" he laughed. "Come on, let's go". Once again you guys got into AJ's truck, this time heading for Planet Hollywood. When you got there, Kevin and Kristin were waiting out front for you. AJ parked as close to them as he could and you guys walked over to where they were standing. Before you could even get to them though, you saw Kristin running towards you. (Kristin)- "Oh My God girl, what did you do?" (U)- "Why, do you like it?" (Kristin)- "Totally! It kicks ass, but I can't believe that you actually went through with it" (U & AJ)- "Me either" (Kristin)- "AJ must be wearing off on you" (U)- "That's what I said too" you said, smiling in his direction. (AJ)- "Man, I don't have to take this abuse from you two, I am going over to talk to Kev". You and Kristin followed behind AJ as you filled her in on all of the days events and your other tattoo that she hadn't seen yet. Finally, when you two were done catching up like you hadn't seen each other forever, you said hello to Kevin and gave him hug. (Kevin)- "How nice of you to talk to me 20 minutes after you get here" he teased. (U)- "I'm sorry, Kris and I just had alot to catch up on, that's all" (Kevin)- "Yes, I hear that you had quite a day at the tattoo shop today" (U)- "AJ told you?" (AJ)- "Well, we couldn't wait on you to get over here and tell him, now could we?" (U)- "Why not impatient?" (AJ)- "Because" (Kristin)- "Nice comeback". You all laughed over that. (Kevin)- "So, let me see 'Ms. I'm too scared to get a tattoo". You steped into the light so that Kevin could see your stomach and then you rolled your pants leg up so that he and Kristin could see the dolphin that you had on your ankle. (Kevin)- "Cool, but what's up with you getting "baby girl" on your belly?" (U)- "Oh, nothing. There was no reason really. I just thought that it would look cool" (Kevin & Kristin)- "Uh-huh" they said, smiling at each other as you all headed inside to get a table. Everyone sat down and you all looked at the menu and placed your orders with the waiter. While you were waiting on your dinner to come out, you all talked and laughed and filled each other in on the days events. You were having a wonderful time and you were glad that you had decided to come. You were definitely feeling a little better about what went down last night. (Kristin)- "So, do you guys want to do something when we are done here?" she asked, looking at you and AJ. (AJ)- "Like what?" (U)- "That's fine with me, but hold that thought. I have to run to the bathroom real quick so we can decide on that when I get back, ok?" (Kristin)- "Ok". You stand up to head for the bathroom when someone a few tables away catches your eye. You grab Kristin by the arm and say "Oh my god Kris, look who is over at that table by the bar". She stands up to look and she immediately sees who you are talking about. Curious to see what you two are looking at and what all the fuss is about, Kevin and AJ look over to the bar also, and there they see...
CHAPTER NINETEEN
Nick Lachey from 98 degrees. AJ turned to you and was just about to ask you what the big deal was about him being there, but before he could get a word out, Kristin grabbed you by the hand and said "Come on, let's go over and say hi", and the two of you took off towards Nick's table. AJ just sat there with a puzzled look on his face as he continued to keep an eye on what you and Kristin were going to do. The two of you were only a few steps away from Nick's table when he looked up and saw you coming. A smile immediately formed on his face and he stood up to greet both of you. First he hugged Kristin, lifting her up in the air as he did so, then he put her back down on the ground and turned to you. He opened his arms wide as you stepped closer to him and hugged him and just as he had done with Kristin, he lifted you off of the ground and spun you around a little before putting you down and letting go of you. (Nick)- "Hi" he said, realizing that none of you had spoken a word to each other yet. (U & Kristin)- "Hey" (Nick)- "What are you two doing here? It's been like forever since we've seen each other" (Kristin)- "We are here having dinner with Kevin and AJ" (Nick)- "Cool, so you are still with Kevin. That's good. Does that mean that you are seeing AJ now?" he asked, looking at you. (U)- "No, we are just hanging out. We are really good friends" (Kristin)- "For now" (U)- "Whatever" (Nick)- "Oh, I see. I take it that you are still with that other guy then? What was his name again?" (U)- "Jake, and no, I am not with him anymore either" (Nick)- "Really? What happened there?" (U)- "Long story" you said, looking down at the ground. (Nick)- "Well, if he had anything to do with those bruises on your face, then you did the right thing" (U)- "You noticed?" (Nick)- "It was hard not to with a face like this" he said as he touched your cheek and ran his thumb under your eye" (Kristin)- "Ok you two, don't start this stuff again if it's not gonna go anywhere" (Nick)- "Maybe it could be different this time. We are both single now unlike when we met before" he said more to you than Kristin. You smiled at him but said nothing. Back at the table with the guys, AJ was now thoroughly confused and visibly irritated about how friendly you and Nick were being with each other. (AJ)- "What the hell is all that about and how can you just sit there and watch him paw all over your girl?" he said to Kevin as he kept looking your way. (Kevin)- "Relax man, it's cool" (AJ)- "How can you say that? He is being awfully friendly to someone that he just met. Does he greet all of his fans that way or just the pretty ones who are taken?" (Kevin)- "I don't know about that, but the last time I checked, ***** wasn't taken, and besides that, he didn't just meet them" (AJ)- "What?" (Kevin)- "See, Kristin tried out to be a dancer on the revelation tour back in February and was actually accepted to go on it, but then she got an offer to go on tour with Cher and that was what she really wanted, so she had to turn the other one down" (AJ)- "What does that have to do with him knowing *****?" (Kevin)- "Well, she wasn't working at the hospital then so when she learned about Kris's audition, she tagged along. I guess that they spent about 8 to 10 hours a day with those guys for like two weeks straight. From what Kris told me, Nick really took a liking to ***** and she liked him too. There was a lot of flirting and stuff going on between them, but since both of them were seeing someone at the time, nothing ever came of it" (AJ)- "Where the hell was I when all of this was going on?" (Kevin)- "That was when you had run off to New York to chase after Amanda" (AJ)- "Oh. Damn that Bitch! She isn't even around anymore and she's still fucking stuff up for me" (Kevin)- "What's the real problem here, AJ? I know you, and you have no problem with Nick or his group, so what is it? Are you jealous or what?" (AJ)- "I'm not sure" he said, looking your way once more to see Nick sitting on a chair with you on his lap, showing him your tattoos. (Kevin)- "You have to tell her man. You're not being fair to her if you don't" (AJ)- "What are you talking about?" (Kevin)- "I am talking about your feelings for *****. I know that they are there no matter how much you try and hide them. I can see it in the way that you look at her and in the way that you act when you are with her" (AJ)- "You're crazy!" (Kevin)- "I don't think so, and it's not fair of you to expect her to not move on with her life now that Jake is gone if you don't say anything to her. She will never know how you feel if you don't" (AJ)- "I don't know if I can do that, because then if she don't feel the same it will change things between us forever and I don't know if I could deal with that. She is my best friend and I don't want to lose her" (Kevin)- "Well, you will never know unless you try, and besides that, from what I know, I don't think that will happen" (AJ)- "Why is that?" (Kevin)- "Let's just say that maybe she feels exactly the same as you do and we'll leave it at that" (AJ)- "No way man! What do you know that you aren't telling me?" (Kevin)- "I know that you are waiting too long to make your move and if you don't do it soon, someone might beat you to it and you will be her friend forever and once again you will be watching her with someone else and wishing it was you" he said, pointing to Nick. "Something tells me that this one would be good to her too" (AJ)- "Look man, no matter what happens, this conversation never leaves this table. You are the only one that knows how I feel and how you figured it out I'll never know because I tried like hell to fight it and to hide it" (Kevin)- "I know you did, and I might be the only one that you admitted it to but I'm not the only one who sees it. Everyone suspects it except for the one person who really needs to know it. At any rate, you have my word that all of this will stay between us" (AJ)- "Thanks, and I will think about what you've said". Just then, the waiter came to the table with everyone's dinner. (AJ)- "Looks like I need to go and break up this little reunion". Kevin just laughed as AJ went to get you and Kristin. "Hey" he said as he approached the table where you guys were. (U & Kristin)- "Hey" (Nick)- "Hey AJ, what's up man?" (AJ)- "Not a whole lot, I just wanted to let these two know that their food was at the table. How about you?" (Nick)- "Nothing really. I'm just waiting on a friend that I was suppose to be meeting here" (Kristin)- "Yeah, that and flirting with the girls" she said looking at you. AJ pretended that he didn't hear that remark as he continued to play it cool and keep the conversation going, even though the thought of you and Nick was tearing him up inside. (AJ)- "That's cool. So do you guys want to go eat now or what?" (U)- "I do. I am starving" you said as you got up from the table. (U)- "I didn't realize that we had been over here so long, but there was just so much to talk about that I guess time just got away from us" (Nick)- "Well, I'm glad it did. It was really nice to see you again...both of you" (Kristin)- "Yes, it was nice to see you again too" (U)- "We'll make sure we see you before we leave ok?" (Nick)- "Ok. See you later". You, Kristin, and AJ all go back to the table with Kevin and sit down to eat your dinner. You are about halfway done when you realize that AJ is being unusually quiet, considering that the rest of you had been chatting away. (U)- "Jay, what's up with you? Is something wrong?" (AJ)- "No, why do you ask?" (U)- "You are just more quiet than usual, that's all" (AJ)- "I'm fine. I was just thinking about a conversation that I had earlier today" he said, looking at Kevin. (U)- "Well ok, if you're sure it's nothing" (AJ)- "I'm sure" (Kristin)- "Then talk some. I am actually starting to miss that mouth of yours" (AJ)- "You would miss it if you knew what I can do with it" he said with a devilish grin on his face. (Kristin)- "Oh God! I think I will pass on that one and leave it up to ******, to find out" she said while laughing. (U)- "Oh really? Why me?" (Kristin)- "Because I have a boyfriend and you don't anymore" (U)- "Ok, now I see. Good reason, but I'm not so sure that it would be all that he says it would" (AJ)- "Oh it would be all that and then some because I am the man and don't you forget it baby!" (U)- "If you say so" (AJ)- "You want me to prove it? Anytime, anyplace...you just name it" (U)- "Ok, right here, right now...bring it on!" (AJ)- "You couldn't handle it" (U)- "Try me". AJ jumped out of his chair and went behind yours. He wrapped both of his arms around your chest so that you couldn't get up as he began to playfully kiss and nibble at the back your neck. You began to laugh and although he was only fooling with you, he did know that this was one of your weaknesses. It totally drives you crazy. You squirmed around in your chair trying to get loose from his grip but there was no use. AJ had a hold of you too tightly. You looked at Kevin and Kristin for some help, but that too proved useless because they were both too busy laughing at you. (Kevin)- "Now see girl, that's what you get for running your mouth". AJ finally loosened his grip on you when he realized that you were laughing so hard that you could hardly breath. (AJ)- "So, is that enough proof for you or do I need to continue?" he asked. You were just about to answer him when you noticed Nick walk up behind you to say goodbye. (U)- "Oh, hey Nick" (Nick)- "Hey. I'm sorry to interrupt your dinner but I have to go and I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye. I also wanted to give you this before I left" he said, handing you an envelope. You opened it up and found two front row tickets along with backstage passes for the next show on the tour for them. (U)- "Wow Nick, this is really cool! I don't know what to say" (Nick)- "Say you'll come? You and Kristin both" (U)- "Of course we will, right Kris?" (Kristin)- "Definitely" (Nick)- "Great! There is something else in there too". You looked inside the envelope once more and found a small piece of paper with several phone numbers written on it. (Nick)- "Maybe it won't be so long this time until we talk again. I would really like to take you out sometime" (U)- "Thanks. Here, let me give you my number too". You grabbed a piece of paper out of your purse and wrote down your home and cell phone numbers and handed it to him, then you stood up and hugged him. (U)- "I'm sure that I will talk to you again soon" you said with a smile. AJ exchanged a look with Kevin that needed no words to describe as Nick let go of you and said goodbye to Kristin. They didn't realize it at the time, but Kristin had seen "the look" and she could pretty much tell what was behind it, although she didn't say anything just then. Once Nick had said goodbye to both you and Kristin, he shook hands with Kevin and AJ and then he left. You guys were ready to leave too since you had been there quite a while. You had what was left of your food put into a box and you waited on the bill to come. You knew AJ would never let you pay for your dinner, much less his, although you had already told him earlier in the day that you were going to, so just before the waiter came back, you asked AJ to run to the gift shop for you to see if they had a certain shirt that you wanted to buy. Of course, you really didn't want a shirt, it was just a way for you to get him away from the table. When he was gone, you grabbed enough cash out of your purse to cover both your dinner and AJ's and you gave it to Kevin who then gave it to the waiter along with his money. You all then went to meet AJ in the gift shop who was just on his way back to the table. (Kevin)- "You ready Bone?" (AJ)- "Yeah, as soon as we take care of the bill and ***** gets in here and gets what she wants" (U)- "The bill is already taken care of and I don't really want a shirt. I just needed to get you away from the table" (AJ)- "Why? I know that you didn't go and pay for my food" (U)- "I know I did, just like I told you I was going to earlier today" you said, sticking your tongue out at him. (AJ)- "I should kick your little ass for that" (U)- "No, you shouldn't. If you can buy me stuff, then I can buy stuff for you too" (Kevin)- "She has a point there" (Kristin)- "Yep, now are we going to go and get into something or what?" (AJ)- "Actually, I was hoping that ***** and I could go somewhere alone. There is something that I want to talk to you about" he said, looking at you. (U)- "That's fine with me" (Kevin)- "Yes, I think that is a great idea" he said as he gave AJ a nod of approval. "Come on Kris, let's go home and watch a movie or something" (Kristin)- "Ooook" she said, knowing that there was something going on between Kevin and AJ. She just wasn't completely sure of what it was. (Kristin)- "Well then *****, call me either tonight when you get home or if it's too late then, call me in the morning because I want to tell you something ok?" (U)- "Alright, but why can't you just tell me now?" (Kristin)- "Because I can't. Trust me" (U)- "Ok. I'll call you". The four of you walked to the parking lot together, then you all said goodbye and went your separate ways. Kevin and Kristin headed home and you climbed in the truck with AJ, unsure of where he was taking you or what he wanted to talk to you about.
CHAPTER TWENTY
Inside the truck, AJ was very quiet which was unusual for him. You could tell when you looked over at him that it was because he was deep in thought about something, although you weren't sure of what it was. You really wanted to know where you were going and what was on his mind right then, but you didn't want to bother him or disturb his thoughts, so you just kept to yourself and looked out the window. About 15 minutes later, AJ stopped the truck in front of Nick Carter's house and he began to get out of the truck. You weren't exactly sure why you were there, but you followed his lead and got out too. (U)- "AJ, why are we at Nick's house? I don't see how we can be alone and talk with him around" you said as you walked around to the back of the truck where he was getting out a blanket. (AJ)- "We aren't actually going to Nick's house, we are going down on the beach behind his house. I figured that since it was a private beach we could be sure that no one would bother us there" (U)- "Oh, well that's a good idea. Did he know that you were coming?" (AJ)- "No, but he won't mind. Hell, he's not even home right now" (U)- "True" (AJ)- "Come on" he said, taking your hand and walking toward the beach. When you got there, he spread the blanket out and motioned for you to sit down. You did and then he sat down beside you. At first, he didn't say anything. His eyes wandered everywhere from the blanket to the moon shining bright above the ocean. Finally, he looked at you as if he wanted to say something but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. (U)- "Jay, what's wrong? Are you ok?" (AJ)- "Yes, I'm ok. I'm just not sure where to start with what I want to tell you, that's all" (U)- "Just tell me. You know that we can tell each other anything. That's what friends are for" (AJ)- "Right. So then tell me what's up with you and that guy Nick from 98 degrees" (U)- "What do you mean what's up? Nothing's up" (AJ)- "I don't know. You two just seemed pretty friendly at dinner. I didn't even know that you knew him personally" (U)- "I met him a few months ago when Kristin auditioned to dance for them. You weren't around when this happened and I never thought anymore of it to tell you about it. Is that what is bothering you?" (AJ)- "Kind of. I mean, Kevin told me that you two got pretty close back then and that you really liked each other but that you couldn't act on it because you were both in a relationship at the time" (U)- "Yeah, that's true. So? Why would that bother you? You have seen me with a boyfriend before just as I have seen you with a girlfriend before. That is why we are best friends. So that we can talk to each other about that kind of stuff and get some advice from someone of the same sex" (AJ)- "I know that, but if you get with him you will probably go out on tour with them so that you can see him and then between them being on the road and me being on the road with BSB, we would never see each other and soon we wouldn't even be friends anymore" (U)- "Whoa!! I think that you are rushing things a little. Tonight is the first time that I have even talked to him in like six months. Who says we will date at all? Besides, you will always be my best friend and I will always have time for you. We have been through too much together for anything to change that" (AJ)- "That's for sure" (U)- "You know, I have never seen you like this. Are you sure that nothing else is bothering you because we could have talked about this in the truck on the way home?" (AJ)- "Well no, it's not the only thing on my mind. There is something else that I have wanted to tell you for a while now. I just didn't know how to say it or what would happen if I did" (U)- "That sounds pretty serious. What is it?". AJ turned to face you and taking your hands in his, he looked you right in the eyes. (AJ)- "See *****, what I really wanted to tell you is that I..." Just then, before AJ could finish his sentence, his cell phone rang. (AJ)- "Shit, I thought I turned this thing off before we came down here. I'm not going to answer it" (U)- "It's ok. You can get it. It's not like I'm going anywhere" you said, smiling at him. (AJ)- "I know, but if I don't say this now, I'm afraid that I will lose my nerve and then I won't do it at all" (U)- "AJ, in all of the years that I have known you, you have never lost your nerve to do anything. Go ahead and answer your phone. It might be important" (AJ)- "I doubt that. It's only Nick" he said, showing you the caller ID display on his phone. You laughed as he answered the call. (AJ)- "Hello Nick" (Nick)- "How did you know it was me?" (AJ)- "Caller ID dumbass, what's up?" (Nick)- "I saw your truck in front of the house when I got home and I've been looking all over for you. Where the hell are you?" (AJ)- "Well, I'm down on the beach by the pier behind your house trying to have a private conversation with ***** if you must know. Why?" (Nick)- "Yeah, I kind of figured that she was with you. What are you talking about?" (AJ)- "None of your business man, that's why I said it was private. Now, did you call for a reason or just to be nosey like usual?" (Nick)- "Actually, I was calling to tell you that you had better get your ass up here to the house because Jake is here looking for ***** and he's outside trying to get in your truck right now" (AJ)- "What!? How did he know that we were here?" (Nick)- "I don't think that he did at first. It seems that Mandy is staying with him now so she came over to get some of her stuff and she brought him along. When they pulled up, I guess he saw your truck" (AJ)- "Yeah, she was at the house when I took ***** over to get some of her stuff earlier today" (Nick)- "That's probably why he is up here screaming about how ***** isn't leaving him and how he knows she's here in the house. I think he's drunk to tell you the truth" (AJ)- "He's gonna be more than just drunk when I'm done with him if he fucks with her or my truck. What's he doing to it?" (Nick)- "He's trying to pick the lock so that he can see if any of ******'s stuff is inside I think. He's out there hollering about how she isn't going to stay with you, even though he knows that she already is" (AJ) "Ok, I'll be right there to deal with this. Thanks for the call man" (Nick)- "No problem. I'm just glad that I got here when I did to see it" (AJ)- "Me too. I'll see you in a minute" (Nick)- "Ok, later" They both hung up and AJ looked over at you. (AJ)- "We gotta go up to the house so we'll have to finish this later ok?" (U)- "Sure, but what's going on? Is everything ok?" (AJ)- "It will be ok because I am going to deal with it" he said, throwing the blanket over his shoulder and starting toward Nick's house. (U)- "Deal with what?" you asked, following behind him. (AJ)- "Jake" (U)- "What!?" (AJ)- "It seems that he is up at Nick's right now looking for you and he's trying to get inside my truck, but for what reason I don't know. Nick says he's drunk" (U)- "Big surprise there. That's not a good combination with him though...anger and alcohol" (AJ)- "You'll be ok. Nick and I will make sure that nothing happens to you". The two of you approached the front of Nick's house and there you saw Jake unsuccessfully trying to pick the locks on AJ's truck. AJ threw the blanket on the ground and headed towards Jake as he told you to go inside with Nick. You went inside to get Nick but you had no intention of leaving AJ out there on his own. You knew first hand how dangerous Jake could be. As fast as you ran inside to let Nick know that you were there, you just as quickly ran back outside with Nick chasing after you, trying to get you to keep your distance. You both got to the porch just in time to see AJ grab Jake by the shoulder and spin him around. (AJ)- "What the hell do you think you are doing?" (Jake)- "I'm getting in here so I can get ******'s shit. She's coming home with me" (AJ)- "Like hell she is. There is no way she's going home with you so you can hit her again, now get the fuck away from my truck! None of her stuff is in there anyway" (Jake)- "I know it is. Mandy told me that you came over with her today and she took her stuff" (AJ)- "That's right, but it's not in my truck. We dropped it off at my house already" (Jake)- "What did you do that for? I'll be damned if I'm going to let her stay with you" (AJ)- "What's it to you? She can do what she wants the last time I checked" (Jake)- "You are the reason that she left me in the first place. If you would have kept your hands off her, she would still be with me" (U)- "No, I wouldn't Jake!" AJ and Jake turned around in surprise to see you standing behind them. AJ then looked at Nick who was right behind you. (Nick)- "Sorry man, I tried to keep her over there but she is about as stubborn as you are" (U)- "AJ had nothing to do with me leaving you" you said to Jake, not paying any mind to Nick or AJ. "Maybe you should have been the one to keep your hands off me" (Jake)- "Like hell he didn't have anything to do with it. He was fucking you every chance he got" (U)- "No, that was just your guilty conscience over what you were doing and your jealousy over our friendship" (Jake)- "So you think that I'm going to believe that although you are living in the same house with him, that nothing is going on right?" (U)- "I don't really care what you believe anymore. I'm tired of having to explain myself to you. Mandy is staying with you now so does that mean that the two of you are sleeping together?" (Jake)- "No, and we never were" (U)- "Whatever! You know what Jake? I don't even care, so why don't you just get the hell out of here and leave me alone?" (AJ)- "Well said" he said as he put his arm around your shoulder. You, Nick and AJ all stood there and looked at Jake. He said nothing at first and he started to turn like he was going to go wait for Mandy in her car while she finished packing inside, then he turned back around and sucker punched AJ across the jaw. Needless to say, this seriously pissed AJ off and he then went at Jake with all he had. He ran at him and tackled him to the ground as if they were playing football right there in the middle of the street. Nick grabbed you by the arm and pulled you out of the way as you watched AJ sit on Jake's chest and throw a few more punches before Jake took a swing back, knocking AJ off of him. They continued to go back and forth with the kicks and punches until out of nowhere, a police car pulled up with it's lights flashing. As the cops got out of the car, AJ took one last shot at Jake before standing up. (Cop)- "Break it up you two! We got a call about an argument that was going on here. Apparently, things escalated rather quickly. Anyone care to tell me what happened?" (Nick)- "Wait a minute. No one here has been on the phone and no one lives around here for miles" (Cop)- "We got a call about 20 minutes ago from a young lady at this address" (U)- "I see what happened...look" you said to Nick as you pointed over to his porch. There he saw Mandy standing with her cell phone in her hand waving to you. (AJ)- "That sneaky little bitch" (U)- "That's Mandy for you" (Nick)- "Yes it is" (Cop)- "So what is going on here?" (Nick)- "Well, this is my house. My ex-girlfriend over there on the porch came over to get some of her clothes and stuff and then I noticed her friend here trying to pick the locks on my friend AJ's truck. AJ came out to tell him to leave it alone and that's when Jake threw a punch at him. From there, I'm sure that you can tell what happened by looking at them" (U)- "That's right" (Cop)- "The story we got from the caller was a little different than that. You want to bring her over here so we can straighten this out?" he said to his partner. That cop went over to the porch and had Mandy come out to where the rest of you were and give her side of the story. (Cop)- "Can you tell me what happened here miss? I'm being told by these two (pointing to you and Nick) that this guy here (pointing to Jake) started the fight. Is that right?" (Mandy)- "No, not at all. In fact, it's just the opposite. You see, I came here to get some of my stuff and I brought Jake along to help me carry it. ****** here is Jake's ex-girlfriend and AJ is her new boyfriend so he already doesn't like Jake. Nick is mad at me because I came here with Jake because he wants to get back together with me, so I guess to get even with us, they decided to jump Jake when I was in the house packing" (U)- "Oh my God, that is such bullshit! Jake hit AJ first and AJ hit him back to defend himself. He would never start a fight. Just look at my face. Jake did this to me last night" (Cop)- "Do you have a police report or anything to prove that?" he asked, looking at your face. (U)- "No we didn't call the cops" (Cop)- "Well, then I'm afraid all I have is your word against his on that. Pretty much the same as what we have right now. We have two different stories here and evidence of assault on both parties, so I am going to have to take both of them in until we can get this straightened out. I'm afraid that you are going to have to come with me too" he said to Nick. "I am placing all three of you under arrest" (U)- "What?!?! Nick didn't have anything to do with the fight. He was just standing here by me!" (Cop)- "Like I said miss, that is what you say, but this young lady says differently" he said, pointing to Mandy. "How do I know who is telling the truth? Obviously one of you isn't. but until we can sort through all of the details and get to the bottom of what really happened, I've got to do my job and that means talking these guys to jail". The cop handcuffed Jake, AJ and Nick and placed them in the back of his car. As they drove away, you looked over at Mandy who had a snotty smile on her face. (Mandy)- "I always win ******, one way or the another" (U)- "Fuck you bitch. I'll get Nick and AJ out. Jake can rot in there for all I care". With that said, you turned your back to her and walked up onto Nick's porch to think of what you should do. Since Brian and Howie were both still out of town and you figured that neither Nick or AJ wanted their mothers knowing about all of this mess, you decided to call Kevin. He should know what to do. As you took out your cell phone and dialed his home number, you hoped that he had went home as planned and that Kristin hadn't talked him into going somewhere else after they left the restaurant because if she did and they had gone somewhere else, it would probably be hard to get ahold of him because neither he nor Kristin had taken their cell phones with them to dinner, which meant that they wouldn't have it on them now either. You continued to wait as the phone rang for the third time.....
