Chapter 9

She walked into her room, went straight for her vanity and looked in her jewelry box. "Oh no." she said rummaging through it to make sure she didn't miss it. "He wouldn't have stolen it. He knew how much it meant to me" She let out a sigh of relief when she found that she hadn't had it stolen. She clasped the diamond and sapphire ring in her hand; it was given to her on her sixteenth birthday by her grandmother who had passed a couple years earlier. She put the ring on her right ring finger and looked at the damage Mark had done. Chairs were all over the place, clothes strewn on the floor and light fixtures, vases were broken, the place was a mess. It's gonna take me forever to clean this place up. Just then there was a knock at the door, who could that be? , She thought stepping over the mess on her floor. She grabbed the doorknob and swung open the door and there stood a tall blond fellow. "Um, can I help you?" She asked the stranger. He extended his hand and she shook it.

"My name is Louis O'Katz. I'm you're neighbor's grandson, she insisted I come over and introduce myself. And I'm glad she did." He complimented. She released her grip on his hand and pulled hers back. Her cheeks flushed a bright red obviously embarrassed by his comment.

"Thanks. I'm Jessica Littrell. Nice to meet you Louis." She smiled. He leaned over to the right to sneak a peek in her apartment but she quickly stepped out and closed the door behind her. "Oh, it's a bit messy. My boyfriend, er, ex-boyfriend decided to go on a dirtying spree." She joked. He smiled once she said ex-boyfriend and she knew he was a player. She always did have a nose for those things. She learned a lot being on tour with the guys for so long. It still amazed her at how young the girls were that threw themselves at them. It made her kind of sad really. "Well, it was nice meeting you and all but I have to go, I've got a lot of cleaning to do. It was really nice to meet you. Tell your grandma I said hi." She said as she opened her door and walked into tornado alley she called her home. This is going to take forever to clean up, she thought already forgetting about her encounter with Louis and Nick. She was more focused on cleaning up this mess. She went to her bedroom and started there, grabbing clothes and sheets up off the floor and folding them. It took her almost an hour to clean her room, then she moved on to her living room. The living room took longer to clean than the bedroom, mainly because of the broken things on the floor that needed to be swept up. Four hours since she started cleaning up she finished. She was exhausted. She collapsed onto the couch and let out a big sigh of relief. "If I ever see Mark again, he's going to get an earful, that's all I got to say." She stood up from the couch and walked to the bathroom. She started the bath and reached for her lavender scented bubble bath to pour in. She just turned the water off when she heard the doorbell ring.

"Who could that be this late?" she wondered looking at her watch. She took off her socks and made her way to the front door. She looked through the peephole and almost fell over when she saw who it was. She swung open the door, "What are you doing here?"
