"Hola! Can I take your order?" a young Mexican waitress asked as she approached the table.
"I think we'll need a little more time." Howie said looking at Nick seemed to be taking the 'dumb blonde' clique to a whole new level today. Aside from typical Mexican food such as Tacos, the boy knew nothing.
"Ok well that's alright. Can I take your drink orders?" she said preparing for a huge order. The table had 8 people at it and although these kind of tables were more difficult to serve they always left good tips.
"Margaritas all around... Well make that Margaritas all around with one virgin for Nicky." Kevin said with out too much thought.
"What? I'm 21 now Kevin! I've been 21 for a while!" Nick protested.
"Don't worry Nicky. I am with you. I can't be drinking..." AJ said in a low raspy voice.
"Make mine a virgin as well. I promise you Alex that I'd do this with you." Sarah said smiling at him.
"Damn..." Kevin mumbled. "Make all of those virgins please. Sorry for the confusion."
"De Nada! Don't worry. I'll be right out with 8 virgin margaritas." she smiled as she tore off the original paper and wrote out a new order. "That it?"
"Si, Gracias Senorita!" Howie said grinning at the waitress.
"Well then I'll be right out with your drinks and I'll take your food order too."
"Aw Howie you can stop staring at her ass any time now Hombre."
"Shut up Bone." Howie mumbled as his face turned pink. 'Things to do: Number 1, get AJ back for this.' Howie thought to himself.
"Uh huh. Well since you weren't and I took notice; I'll tell you that girl's got a nice ass!" He grinned before turning to his fiance and the grin faded. "But she is nothing compared to my Sarah!!" he exclaimed leaning forward to plant a light kiss on her lips.
"You better say that Alex." she teased with a laugh. "Because you know there's still a couch for you to sleep on even on your tour bus and in the hotel."
"You are a wicked woman...and yet I still love ya! Crazy!" he laughed before looking back into her soft brown eyes. "Te Amo!! Te amo con todo mi corazon!!"
"Tambien, te amo con todo mi corazon!!"
"Quit it you two! The rest of the guys probably haven't the slightest of what you are saying but I do and I'm the only one here alone!" Howie complained to AJ and Sarah.
"Lo siento 'D..." then a mischivious grin took over his features. "I'm gonna hook you up with some one."
"Yeah and 'D you aren't the only one here alone." Nick pointed out because he too had no girl with him. He had no girl to bring even if he wanted to.
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine."
" 'D you haven't dated any one since that Dana bitch."
"Bone!! Don't talk about her like that!"
" 'D I'm just watching out for you. I know you've done it for me plently!"
"Whatever you say Bone."
"Just you see. I'm the best match maker in the world. I'll find the perfect girl."
"Hey, I was wondering if could get your number?" Nick asked the waitress as he leaned on the counter. "How about a name first. My name is Lauren.What's yours?"
"My name is Nick." he answered with his famous smile.
"Well Nick this is my number..." she said scribbling down the numbers on the back of the restruant's business card. "Hope you enjoyed the food and I hope you do call some time."
"I did...The food was very good and I promise to call." he grinned as he walked back to the table.
"What were you up to over there Frack?" Brian asked curious because of the huge grin on Nick's face.
"I just got our waitress's number...She is hot, don't you think?" he said with a sly smile.
"You are strange kid Frack. But it's good to see you dating."
"Not another lecture!! Brian fight it, do NOT become Kevin."
"What? I heard my name...Nicky?"
"Nothing Kev. I was just saying how lucky Brian is to have you as family." Nick said as sincerely as he could while fighting off the sarcastic smile.
"Well Nicky, even though I know that you are totally bull shitting me right now. I think of you like the little brother that I always thought I wanted. Thought being the key word."
"Ah, I'm touched Kev. And the same goes for you. I mean you've always been like the Grandpa I always thought I wanted. I mean you are old enough and all."
"Funny Carter." Kevin said in a warning tone as he gave Nick 'the look'.
"Listen AJ, I'm really sorry about dinner last night...I just forgot...I feel awful..." Kevin stuttered as he walked into the studio with AJ.
"It's ok Kev. Not a big thing."
"No it was!! You have to realize I am so, so proud of you man. I am really really sorry about the drinks last night."
"Oh my gawd!! I think it's finally happened!!" AJ gasped studying Kevin's somber face. "What?? What happened J??? Are you ok??" he asked worriedly.
"Those frown lines have become permenant!!! I knew it would happen eventually with the way you worry about everything..." AJ said as seriously as he possibly could but he had a smiled plastered on his face.
"Jay, I was trying to be serious."
"I know Kevy Kev. But obviously the thing last night didn't bother me at all, so don't beat yourself up over it. It is NOT a big deal. Nothing bad happened."
"Was Sarah mad?"
"No, not at all..." he chuckled. "Sarah felt bad for you because she said you looked like you just ran over your dog after you realized you had made a mistake. She knew you didn't mean any harm. I know you didn't mean any harm. So everything is cool because nothing bad happened."
"Yeah but I'm still really sorry Jay."
"Hey Kev, Hey Bone." Howie called as he caught up to the two.
"Heylo 'D...What's up?"
"I had the best dream last night." he said smiling as if he were still in the dream.
"What was it about?" Kevin asked curiously.
"I don't really remember all the details but we were hanging out in the studio for lunch and this girl walks in, she looks like she should be a model and I am sitting there talking to her and she is like beyond perfect. Like every answer and everything she said..." Howie mused.
"Some day you'll find a girl who comes close to your 'dream girl' but you'll never find a perfect woman. But I promise you'll find one that comes damn close." Kevin said confidently as he patted Howie's shoulder.
"Hey what do yall say to ordering some take-out or something?" Brian called into the room where AJ and Nick were supposed to be practicing but instead AJ was on the phone and Nick was sleeping.
"Frack wake up!" Brian said shaking him to wake him.
"Huh? Wha?" he mumbled as he struggled to open his eyes. "You want some lunch?"
"Oh, lunch break! Yeah I'm going back to that little Mexican place."
"Because of the girl eh?"
"Of course. I mean why not? I talked to her last night and she was cool. She works at that restruant because it's a family business and that keeps them together. But she is also going to college."
"Well that's good...Mind if I tag along? Leigh Anne couldn't make it today..."
"Sure, let's go." Nick said as he hopped up and started toward the door. "You want to come Boner?"
"Huh? What you want Frack?"
"I asked if wanted to grab some lunch with us...Mexican."
"Nah...I'll get 'D or Train to head out to Mickey 'D's with me."
"Kae, Later Bone. Oh and tell Sarah hey for me..." he said as he started out the door.
"Wait how'd you know it was Sarah?" AJ asked curiously.
"Boner I know you. You always get that goofy look on your face when you're talking to Sarah."
"Oh...Well anyway Later fellas." AJ said returning to his conversation.
"Hey guy we're back!!" Nick called upon re-entering the studio. "I brought a girl too!!" he exclaimed as he pointed to Lauren, their waitress from the night before.
"I don't know your name but feel free to smack Nick any time for being a dork. Like now." AJ said laughing as he tapped the side of Nick's head.
"Thanks..." she laughed feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"Anyway, ignore the freak of nature and I'll introduce you to the rest of the fellas." Nick said smiling.
"That...That's her Kevin!!" Howie whispered to Kevin as he nodded towards the girl.
"What? That's who 'D?" he asked as he turned to face Howie.
"The girl from my dream last night!"
"Get out...Well maybe your dream is coming true." Kevin smirked.
"Maybe..."
"And this is 'D and Train."
"Nice to meet you." Kevin said politely shaking her hand.
"Very nice too meet you too."
"Nice to meet you and don't let Nicky scare you away. We're not as weird as him...not by a long shot.....well except Boner of course..."
"Hey I resent that 'D!"
"Nice to meet you." she laughed shaking Howie's hand.
"Now that you've meet the guys think I can convince you to maybe let me take you on a date?" Nick asked smiling at her sweetly.
"Um I don't know. My ma always said not to date strangers..." she teased.
"Yeah and they don't get a whole lot stranger than Nicky..." Brian chuckled.
"Hey, hey now, what about Aje?" Nick asked grinning. "Anyway, despite the freaks I hang out with, will you go out with me?" he asked turning his attention back to Nikita.
"I don't know..."
"Come on, I'm not a stranger now. I even called you like I promised. Come on...Give me a real shot here..." he said giving her the most innocent look he could come up with.
"Alright...Call me and we can make plans then, ok?"
"Ok. Deal." he smiled his famous Nick Carter smile that seemed to get him anything he could ever possibly want.
"Nicky, phone. When it rings you usually answer the bloody thing!" AJ called using his funny british accent. Instead of saying 'Nicky' he pronounced it "Nickay". 'Probably just because he knows I hate that.' Nick thought to himself as he pulled out his phone to answer. "Hey!! What's up Shorty?" he exclaimed as a smile lit up his face. "Hang on...I'll be right back I swear." he said looking at Lauren.
"Have a seat....Sorry I don't think I caught your name..." Howie said as he scooted over to make room on the couch for her.
"It's Lauren. And thanks." she said sitting in the place he had made for her.
"Pretty name. So Nicky tells us you are in college, what's your major?"
"My major is business and marketing..."
"Wow...What do you want to do when you get out?"
"I want to open my own little store with my own designs in it. I think that would be so awesome."
"Aw the next Donna Karen." he smiled.
"I wish..." she laughed. "Nah I just figure if the shop doesn't work out. No matter what I've got my dad's resturant."
"Oh your dad owns that place you work at?"
"Yeah."
"The food there is absolutely delicous. My compliments to the chef!"
"I'll pass that along." she smiled. "So what about you...I mean aside from this stuff with the guys, what do you do?"
"I have a club I own in Florida and I own a couple condos down there that I keep rented out as well."
"Wow, you've got to be pretty busy then. That is a lot of work."
"Yeah but I have fun doing it so it's not really like work to me. I really don't consider much of what I do work because I love doing it."
"See that's what I want so bad. I want to be able to do what I want to do for a career and just be happy."
"What's stopping you?"
"Nothing right now. I mean I have to finish college and then I'm going to do it. I have money saved up and everything to lease a place and get started. But I mean I know it's a really hard business to be in. So for the most part I'm just really scared that I'm going to get out there and be a total flop."
"You can't be a flop as long as you are chasing your dreams. I promise you that. I mean there may be times when you don't see what's coming...so it may have slow times but if you work had you can do absolutely anything you set your mind to."
"Wow what a wonderful thing to hear...Thank you."
"No problem." he smiled.
