How They Relax
Seventeen Magazine - Dina Sansing

"Have you ever wondered what it's like to be the produce on the back of a truck?" jokes Youngstown singer-songwriter James L. Dallas, 25. "That's what being on tour is like." He may be kidding, but Dallas admits that going on the road can be disorienting: He recently shocked some hotel guests by accidentally entering the wrong room. "I just said I was sorry and walked out," he says.

After spending most of this spring on a whirlwind concert tour and joining Radio Disney's World Tour 2000 lineup this summer, the group from Youngstown, Ohio, has given new meaning to the title of their debut album, Let's Roll. But despite weeks with only a bus to call home, living on a diet of fast food and candy (their trailer is stacked with Blow Pops and Sour Jacks), you won't hear this sizzling trio complaining or partaking in after-show shindigs. "We avoid doing things that build ego, like going to parties and clubs," explains Dallas. "Hanging out with one another helps us stay grounded." Sammy Lopez, 22, agrees, but says time alone is also a necessity. "I'm a quiet person to begin with. I like to keep to myself," he says.

Hitting a different city nearly everyday may not leave much time for one's self or one's relationships - but you can't keep a guy from looking. "Sometimes I'll see a cute girl in line at an autograph signing," confesses David "D.C." Yeager, 24. "I'll look in her eyes and she can definitely see, 'Yeah, he's checking me out.'"

The guys break up the monotony of touring by changing their choreographed dance moves - with somewhat mixed results. "Sammy once started doing the old routine," says D.C. "He just looked at us with pure desperation. All we could do was laugh." Such is the modus operandi for these boys. "We're not trying to be perfect," says D.C. "we're just out to have a little fun."
