3 WORLDS APART Chapter 3 Nick's View
"I can't believe how immature you are Nicky!" Col shouted, drying herself up with a towel.
"What? All I did was soak you from head to toe, and then push you into the grass. What's so wrong with that?" I replied, smirking.
"What's so wrong with that? Um…think really hard Nick…really hard. Use your head for more than a hat rack." Col laughed.
"Are you saying I'm stupid? Do you want to start with me again?"
"No, I have to take a shower, thanks to YOU Mr. Carter." Col replied, smiling.
"It's not my fault. You were asking for it." I added, "Totally asking for it."
She gave me a joking glare, and headed upstairs to take a shower. I heard voices from the kitchen, and slowly made my way towards them.
"Hey ya'll." I said, grabbing a Coke from the refrigerator.
"Hey Nicky. Did Col beat the crap out of you?" AJ asked, curiously.
"No." I lied, "I soaked her from head to toe, and then I pushed her into the grass. Now her clothes are soaked and muddy."
"Yeah but how come I heard you shrieking for help?" Sophia laughed.
"Well…um…you know…I let her push me down."
"Oh ok Nick. You're such a liar." Brian said.
"Yeah I'm lying. So what are ya'll talking about?" I asked.
"Nothing really. We're just talking." Sophia mumbled.
"Oh ok…you guys are boring." I laughed.
"Now wasn't that fast?" I heard Colleen shout from behind me.
I turned around and gave her a devilish grin.
"Yeah I guess that was faster than I'll ever be in the shower." I sighed. I hate losing to this girl…actually I hate losing to everybody!
"Ready Col?" Brian asked, standing up and reaching for Col's hand.
"Yep!" she replied, smiling.
"Sorry to leave early guys, but Col and I are going to catch a movie." Brian said, taking a sip of his soda.
"But this is your house? Do we have to leave?" Howie asked.
"Nah…just make sure you clean up the sodas and stuff. We should be back around 11. Catch you later!" Brian replied.
I was really annoyed. They just decided to go see a movie, and they didn't bother inviting me! It's times like this I wish Brian wasn't around. I know that if it weren't for Bri, I would've never met Col, but sometimes I just want to chill with her, and Brian is always getting in the way of that. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Brian…he's my other best friend. I couldn't imagine my life without him…I wouldn't call it jealousy, because I don't have feelings for Col other than friendship. Well, I guess I can understand why they would want to do some things alone, but I was still pissed off. I hate being left out of things. If I told Col and Bri that I felt left out, they would probably laugh at me. Col would say, "Nick, how could you even think that you were being left out! I love you both!" Brian would say, "Col and I have a right to go places alone. We know each other longer, and we're just a bit closer." Nothing would change, and they would still be going to late-night movies together. Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it. I love being best friends with Col…and who says she can't have two best friends?
Colleen's View
Brian and I arrived at the movies early, so we were basically the only ones in the theater right now. Of course, Brian had to wear a hat, so no one would notice him. You would be surprised how many people recognize him, even in the dark theater.
"You know what I was thinking?" I said suddenly.
"What?" he replied, looking towards me.
"Well, do you think we should've invited Nick? He looked pretty annoyed when we left."
"Col…we've discussed this all ready. Nick is also our best friend, but I've known you longer, and there are some times that we need to go out alone. He doesn't need to tag along all the time. I'm so sick of you feeling bad for him every time he doesn't get his way." Brian snapped.
I was surprised at the way Brian snapped at me. He never snaps at me. I wasn't upset…I'm not the type of person who will cry when her friend gets mad at her. If he wants to be mad, then let him be mad. I don't care.
We sat in silence for the next few minutes. I knew Brian couldn't keep quiet for too long, so I waited for him to talk.
"Look Col…I'm sorry. I understand what you were saying before. But I really think that we deserve some time together alone. I love Nick…he's my other best friend. But I'm so much closer to you, and I miss the way it used to be. I'm sorry for snapping at you." He said, giving me his puppy dog look, "Please forgive me."
"Well of course I'm going to forgive you. How can I not? Especially when your giving me that adorable puppy dog look!" I giggled.
"Yes I know I'm irresistible." Brian laughed.
Suddenly, a group of teenage girls sat in the seats behind us.
"I hope they don't notice us." I whispered in Brian's ear.
"Me too. Do they look like BSB fans?" he replied.
"How am I supposed to know?" I giggled, "You are so blonde!"
"I am not blonde! I'm dirty blonde."
"Same thing."
"Oh my God! Are you Brian Littrell?" one of the girls sitting behind us shouted.
"Oh crap." He mumbled, taking off his hat, and turning around to face the girls.
"Yep, that's me." He said, smiling.
"Oh my God! I'm your biggest fan!" they all shrieked.
"Thanks!" he replied.
"Can you please sign our shirts?"
They handed him a pen, and he quickly signed all of their shirts.
"I think we should go Col." He muttered.
"Yeah I think so too." I replied, standing up and walking towards the door.
I watched Brian say good-bye to the girls, and he ran to catch up to me.
"Sorry about that. I don't know how they noticed me."
"Hey, it's all in the life of a Backstreet Boy." I whispered.
"Where to now?" he asked, "It's only 8:40."
"Um…well…the night is young, and so are we!" I said, giggling. Brian burst out laughing, grabbed my hand, and we headed for the exit.
