WHO DO YOU LOVE? Chapter 4 Gwen's View
"Hey Bri, what are you doing here?" I said, looking up to find Brian standing behind me. I had been sitting on Nick's stoop, watching him and Colleen sleep, through the window.
"I figured Col would be here."
"Yeah she is. Sleeping with Nick on the couch."
"With Nick? Doesn't that make you mad?"
"Nah, I'm not the jealous type. So anyway, why do you need to talk to her?"
"Well… we had this fight."
"About what Brian?"
"She told me she loved me, but I didn't believe her. I sorta got angry with her, and left. And I feel really bad because she was telling the truth, and that's all I've ever wanted her to say. But when she finally says it… I lose my temper. I just hope I didn't blow any chances I had with her." he replied, sadly.
"Oh Bri, I'm sure you still have a chance. You know what they say: in the end, love conquers all."
"I hope so Gwen."
Brian's View
"So you wanna ring the bell?" I asked, impatiently. I really wanted to talk to Colleen as soon as possible.
"I hate to wake them… they look so peaceful."
I glanced through the window, and noticed Colleen and Nick were soundly sleeping. Her head was on his lap, and their hands were linked together.
"How does that not bother you Gwen?"
"I trust Nick, he loves me. He would never do anything behind my back… and I trust Col too."
"Yeah, but you know they used to have a thing going on."
"Nick told me… but that was before I met him, so I can't do anything about it."
"Yeah, you're right. Well I think they've had enough sleep. Wake up kids." I grinned, ringing the doorbell.
Nick's View
"Hmmm, Nick." I heard Col mumble, as I felt her head lift off my lap.
"What's going on?" I replied, groggily.
"Doorbell."
I looked up, and saw Gwen and Brian chatting outside.
"Oh shit. Get up, Gwen's here." I whispered.
"Oh okay."
"Hey Col, about last night…"
"What about it? Nothing happened, remember?" she grinned.
"Right." I smiled.
I ran my fingers through my hair, and opened the door to see a smiling Gwen, and glum looking Brian.
"Hey baby!" she giggled, giving me a light kiss.
"Hey honey, hey B. Come on in."
"Where's Col?" Brian mumbled.
"Oh sure, all you care about is Colleen." I whined, sticking out my lower lip.
"Nick, I'm serious. Where is she?" he snapped.
"Jeez, chill kid. She's in the kitchen."
"Thanks. Do you guys mind going out back or something… it would mean a lot to me."
"No, it's my -"
"Yeah sure Brian." Gwen interrupted.
"But Gwen, why should I be kicked out of my own home?"
"Because Brian needs to talk to Colleen in private. C'mon, lets go sit on the stoop or something."
"Oh fine. Last time I checked, she was in the kitchen. Later minutes." I murmured, as me and Gwen left the room.
"So you think Brian and Col will get together?" Gwen whispered, once we were in my backyard.
"What do you mean 'get together'?"
"You know, get together. Like, as a couple. I mean, they love each other… and they look so cute together."
"No they don't."
"You don't think so?"
"Nah, not at all. They look absolutely terrible together."
"Why do you say that Nick?" she asked, a look of complete curiosity on her face.
"Well… I mean, he has blonde hair, she has light brown. And he has blue eyes, and she has green. I mean, take us for example… we both have blonde hair, and blue eyes. It's perfect."
"Now you're just being silly." she giggled, leaning in to give me a kiss.
"Can I have more of that Miss. Gwen?"
"Sure." she replied, kissing me again.
"I like that baby." I mumbled.
"I'm glad you do."
I never really thought of Col and Brian getting together. I mean, he's in love with her, and she seems to be in love with him… so they should get together. But the thought of that made me cringe. I've got to stop getting like that.
Brian's View
I slowly made my way into the kitchen, and sat down across from Colleen. She didn't even look up. This was gonna be hard…
"Hey." I mumbled, shifting uncomfortably.
"Hi." she replied, looking up.
"Before you say another word, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the way I acted last night."
"No, you had every right to get angry. I know I've hurt you in the past, but I promise you… I was being totally honest with you last night. I would never lie about being in love with you…"
"I realize that now."
"Brian, last night you said that I wasn't the one for you…"
"I was just angry. Of course you're the one for me… never forget that."
"So what happens now?" she murmured, smiling at me.
"I think this is where I ask you to go out with me…" I grinned.
"Oh so this must be the part where I say 'hell yeah'."
"Exactly. So now I kiss you." I whispered, as she got up and came to sit on my lap. As we started our own little make-out party, all I could think about was how much I loved her. I had waited so long for us to be together, and it was finally happening.
"Mmm, Brian?" Col mumbled, pulling away.
"Yes baby?"
"Baby? Wow… I never would've thought you would be calling me that. I like it."
"I'm happy you like being called that. Now why did you pull away?"
"You wanna move into the living room? It's a lot more comfortable."
"Okay." I replied, lifting her up, and bringing her to the couch… we immediately picked up where we had left off.
Nick's View
"Can we go inside now?"
"I dunno, do you see them anywhere in there?" Gwen replied.
"Nope, they're not in the kitchen."
"Alright, lets go see how they're doing."
"Aw, look at that…" Gwen gushed, pointing to the couch.
Brian and Col were making out. He was on top of her, and it looked like her shirt was off. A wave of a familiar feeling washed over me: jealousy.
"Nick, hello?" Gwen whispered, waving her hands in front of my face.
"What? Oh yeah, what did you say?"
"I said, isn't that sweet?"
"No, it's gross." I snapped, walking into the living room.
"Could you guys please take this little session elsewhere?" I shouted. With that, they jumped up, and Col quickly pulled her shirt over her head. My eyes locked with hers, and I gave her a hurt look.
"Oh sorry. We were just, um…" Col stammered.
"Making out on my couch." I interrupted.
"Yeah, sorry Nick." Brian added.
"So, by the looks of it, I'm gonna guess you guys are together." Gwen grinned.
"Yep, finally." Brian replied, taking Col's hand in his.
"Well that's all good, but you guys better go." I muttered, giving them a wave, before I headed upstairs.
Gwen's View
"What's wrong with him?" I mumbled, out loud.
"Oh you know Nick, if he's not getting any action… no one should." Col replied.
"Oh right." I giggled. But I knew there was more to it then that… I just couldn't figure it out…
"Well, we better get going. Later Gwen." Brian and Col said, leaving, hand in hand. I quickly ran upstairs, and knocked on Nick's bedroom door.
"What?" he snapped, swinging open his door.
"Jeez Nick, what the hell is wrong with you?" I shouted, angrily.
"Nothing. What's wrong with you?" he said, sarcastically.
"Okay, I'm not even gonna bother talking to you, if you're gonna give me this shitty attitude."
"Sorry Gwenny." he replied, his face lightening up a bit.
"What's wrong with you Nick?" I said, a little softer this time.
"I dunno." he shrugged.
"Oh my God."
"What?"
"You still love her, don't you Nick?"
"What the fuck are you talking about?"
"Why were you so bothered by the fact that they were kissing?"
"Because I don't enjoy watching people do that."
"Be honest with me Nick: are you still in love with Colleen?"
His blue eyes stared into mine, for what seemed like an eternity.
"No." he finally spoke.
"Okay." I said, relieved. Nick wouldn't lie to me, and I trusted him.
Colleen's View
"Nick seemed pretty mad, huh?" Brian said, as we drove to his place.
"Yeah, I dunno what's gotten into that guy."
"Jealousy."
"Jealousy? No, that's impossible. Nick loves Gwen…"
"Are you so sure about that?"
"What are you saying?" I asked, curiously… even though I already knew the answer.
"I'm saying that Nick still loves you. I know it."
"How?"
"He looks at you the same way I do."
"And how would that be Mr. Littrell?" I smiled.
"With love, and everything that comes with it."
"Well it doesn't matter, because I'm yours."
"I'm glad to finally hear you say that."
"So am I."
"Well, here we are." he said, as he lifted me out of his car, and carried me all the way to his bedroom.
"Hmm, I think this is your room. What happens in here?" I flirted.
"Well, this is where we get busy." he grinned, laying me down gently. Our tongues joined together, as we slowly undressed each other.
This is what I wanted… to be with him. I couldn't have been happier. Then the vision of Nick's pained face flashed before my eyes.
