WHO DO YOU LOVE? Chapter 7 AJ's View
I woke to the sound of someone knocking at the door.
"Col, hey." I smiled, opening the door to find Colleen standing there, "C'mon in."
"Thanks AJ -how are you doing?"
"I'm miserable without her." I said, sadly, taking a seat on the couch.
"Aw AJ, then how come your not with her right now?" she asked, taking a seat next to me.
"I figured I would give her some time alone."
"Well, she's been pretty down since you guys fought. I really think you should come back to Brian's with me… you guys have to talk. You know she's not gonna come to you -she's too stubborn."
"What do I say to her, that I haven't already said before? I mean, I love her… and only her. But my flirting is something I can't control."
"AJ, you're a married man now, and you can't throw yourself at every pretty girl you see. If you weren't ready for the commitment… then why are you married?" she asked.
"No Col, I am ready to commit myself to her. I was ready the day I met her -but something comes over me every time I see a good-looking girl." I mumbled.
"Well, I dunno what to tell you AJ. You better get your act together, because Sophia can't take much more of your behavior."
"I know. She has every right to be mad. I just don't know what to say to her."
"Hmmm, what did you have in mind?"
"Sophia, baby, I love you… and only you. You're the only one in my heart, and that will never change. Something to that effect."
"Wow, that's beautiful AJ. Why don't you come back to Brian's house with me, and you can talk to her."
"Alright, just give me a half hour or so. I wanna shower and change. Put on some TV if you want."
"Ugh, I don't wanna even look at the TV after today. That's all I've been staring at lately!" she laughed, picking up a magazine that was lying on my table.
"Take your time AJ, get all nice and clean." she added.
"Okay, thanks Col." I said, before disappearing into the bathroom.
30 minutes later…
Brian's View
"Yo, Sophia, I am one loaded son of a bitch." I giggled, looking at the empty bottle of vodka lying on the table.
"Well if you're loaded, that must make me extra-loaded." she said, grinning stupidly.
"So beautiful, what do you wanna do?"
"Oh a little bit of this, a little bit of that…"
"How about some loving… because I love you!" I snickered. My head was spinning, and I felt as light as a feather.
"Oh my God! I love you too Bri Bri!" she shouted, jumping into my lap.
Without thinking, I pressed my lips against hers, and she kissed back, eagerly. My tongue explored every inch of her mouth, and I felt myself being turned on. Colleen never even crossed my mind. I was way to drunk to think of anything…
Colleen's View
"You ready AJ?" I smiled, as we stood outside of Brian's house.
"As ready as I'll ever be." he said, nervously.
I slowly turned the doorknob, as me and AJ stepped inside. My eyes widened as I noticed Brian and Sophia making out on the couch. My heart dropped to the floor, as tears slowly formed at the corners of my eyes.
I looked up at AJ, who had the same pain-stricken look on his face.
"Oh… my… God…" he whispered.
"What do we do?" I mumbled, through tears.
"Let's watch them, and see how far they go."
"Okay."
I looked over at the table, and noticed two empty bottles of vodka. They must be drunk. I tapped AJ on the shoulder, and pointed to the table.
"I know." he nodded.
Sophia worked on unbuttoning Bri's shirt, while he focused all of his attention on her lips. Piece by piece, my heart was breaking. My boyfriend, and my best friend… I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I held onto AJ's hand for support, and he squeezed it tightly.
"AJ - I can't watch this anymore." I cried, "I gotta stop them."
"Brian." I shouted, making sure he heard me.
Both of them looked up, and Brian immediately flashed me an apologetic look.
"What the fuck's going on here?" AJ screamed, coming to stand next to me once again.
"AJ, let me explain…"
"Save it." he muttered. She put her head in her hands and cried. Why was she crying? She couldn't possibly be as hurt as I was.
Brian slowly got up.
"Col -" I didn't wanna hear what he had to say. I turned around and ran out the back door. I kept running until I fell to the ground, the grass hitting my bare legs.
Brian's View
I was about to leave, when AJ blocked the doorway.
"Are you still drunk asshole?" he snapped.
"I just feel really sick right now."
"Yeah you should feel sick. You've tried for the longest time to get Colleen, and once you do… you cheat on her. She deserves a hell of a lot better than you. Get out of my face."
He moved out of my way, and I dashed towards Col's hunched over figure.
"Baby please listen to me." I cried.
"Don't call me baby. I'm not your baby."
"Col, please don't say that. I love you -"
"You don't love me Brian. If you loved me, you wouldn't have kissed her."
She was crying so hard, her breathing was becoming short.
"I had too much to drink. I didn't realize what I was doing. You gotta believe me, please." I pleaded, placing my hand on her shoulder.
"Don't touch me." she shouted, pushing me away, and standing up.
"I can't lose you… I love you way too much."
"Whatever."
She started walking away from me, but I followed.
"Where are you going?"
"Nick's house. Don't follow me. Just leave me the fuck alone." she screamed, walking out of my view. I did as she said. I sat down against the side of my house, and cried.
Sophia's View
AJ and I had been sitting in silence. I had no idea what to say. I couldn't find the words.
"Why'd you do that Sophia?" he finally mumbled.
"AJ, I was drunk. I was so out of it, I had no idea what was going on. I would've never done that, if I hadn't been drunk. Please understand that." I cried.
"I can't understand."
"God, AJ, please don't say that." I begged.
"I just can't believe you would allow yourself to get drunk, and start getting all over Brian. I just can't understand that, I'm sorry."
"So what are you saying?" I cried.
"I'm saying I can't be with you."
"No AJ, no, don't say that!"
"I'm not saying it's for good… but right now, I can't be with you." he mumbled, sadly.
"I guess I have to respect your decision. I love you AJ, and I'll give you as much time as you need." I muttered.
"Okay." he replied, before walking out the door.
I started crying all over again. I had lost AJ… even if it was only temporary - I had lost him. Brian slowly entered the room, and sat himself down next to me.
"Where's Col?" I asked, worriedly.
"She went to Nick's house. I've lost her."
"Looks like we both lost the most important people in our lives tonight…" I mumbled.
Nick's View
"But Stan, why are you so mad?"
Ring, Ring…
"Aw fuck." I shouted, turning off my music, and reaching for the phone.
"Hello?"
"Nick? It's Brian."
He sounded pretty upset.
"Hey, what's going on man?"
"Is Col there?"
"No… should she be?"
"Yeah, she's angry with me."
"Why's that Bri?"
"Well because -"
Ding…
"Hold on a second -doorbell." I said, quickly swinging open the door.
"Oh my God… Colleen, what's wrong sweetie?" I asked, worriedly, as I was greeted by Colleen. She was crying hysterically, and shaking all over.
"H-h-h-he…" she cried.
"He what? Who's he?"
"B-B-Brian." she choked out.
"Brian what?"
"He k-k-k-kissed Sophia."
"Are you joking? Come on in, and take a seat. I'll be in, in a second."
I grabbed the phone, "You're a fucker Brian."
"She told you?"
"Damn right she did. She's crying and shaking all over. How the hell did this happen?!"
"I was drunk… let me talk to her…" he said, sadly.
"No fucking way. Bye." I shouted, clicking off the phone.
"Col, sweetie, come here." I mumbled, pulling her into my arms.
"I can't believe he would do this to me Nick, it's just not like him." she said, softly… calming down a bit.
"Brian doesn't deserve a wonderful girl like you. You need someone who wouldn't hurt you like that."
"Yeah, but I never thought Brian had it in him to cause me pain… guess I was wrong."
"You love him -love is blind."
"No, I did love him. I can't be with him anymore."
"Why's that?"
"Because I don't trust him… everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie."
"I know you still love him, Col… you're just hurt right now."
"Of course I still love him. But it's over between us. I could never be with him after this. I always told myself that if a guy cheats on me once… I would never get with him -because he'll never change."
"Do you remember what I said to you last year?" I asked, changing the subject.
"You said a lot of things last year Nick." she laughed.
"Hmm, you're right. Let me specify: do you remember that night in New York, when I told you I loved you?"
"Um, yeah." she nodded, shifting uncomfortably.
"And then I said I would be the one for you… remember that?"
"Yeah, how could I forget."
"Well, I'm still willing."
"But what about Gwen -"
"I broke it off with Gwen today. We were just two totally different people. She understood, and agreed with me, actually. Besides, I'm in love with someone else…"
"Who's that?" she asked, weakly.
"You."
Colleen's View
"Me?"
He nodded softly, before leaning in to kiss me. I kissed back, fully wanting him. Brian had hurt me, and that was something I couldn't forget… even if I tried. Basically, I was back where I had been last year.
I loved Brian, despite what had happened earlier. But my feelings for Nick couldn't be ignored. Before long, I had given myself entirely to Nick, as we lay in each other's arms after it was all over.
"Be with me Col…" he mumbled, softly. Kissing my neck.
"Nick, I can't…"
"What?" he asked, sitting up in bed.
"I can't be with you. I still love Brian."
"What about me?"
I refused to look at him - his blue eyes were glazed over, and he looked so hurt. This is exactly what I didn't want… being in love with two guys, and hurting them both at the same time.
"I love you too Nick
"I understand." he sighed, before catching me in his arms once again.
