The Man On The Cross

Christ-Cross

A long time ago, outside a Yerushalayim* gate, A Man bore a cross, suffering a terrible fate.

Like a lamb He was led, to His own slaughter, As men looked on, with their sons and daughters.

He was led to the place, where He would die, And His body was so broken, it would make you cry.

His head was swollen, from the crown He wore, And with it's thorns sunk deep, He was recognizable no more.

His back was bloody, and His flesh was ripped, From the beating He suffered, at the hands of a whip.

Stripped and bloody, He was nailed to a tree, And there He would die, for the world to see.

He cried, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." ...As His wrists were pierced, for me and you.

He was hung between two thieves, for all the world to see, This Man that was crucified, upon a hill called Calvary.

The cross was covered, with His precious blood, And the crimson soaked the ground, as it flowed from above.

But why was this Man, suffering such a fate, And hanging on this cross, outside a Yerushalayim* gate??

There was no guilt, or even sin in this Man, But yet He was dying, at the Romans own hand.

This Man lived a life, that was so Holy and Pure, As He preached God's love, and taught us that Redemption is sure.

The Man that hung, on the cross that day, Was God's Holy Son, who came to show us the way.

This Man was Yeshua HaMashiach*, who shed His blood, And by giving His life, He showed us His love.

He was giving His life, for a world gone mad, But to die like this, was oh so sad.

He came down from Heaven, to save the human race, And to show us His love, His mercy and grace.

He suffered this horrible, and agonizing death, And he bore this agony, unto His last breath.

As He gave up His Spirit, to Redeem all man, The earth did quake, and it shook the land.

The veil of the temple, was rent in twain, As this King hung lifeless, like a lamb that was slain.

It was there sin died, where His blood fell, And it shook the foundations, in the bowels of hell.

Then when evening had come, He was removed from the cross, And laid in a tomb, in this world that was lost.

During the Sabbath His followers, mourned His loss, They couldn't believe He was gone, and they felt so lost.

But after three days, Yeshua* arose from the grave, So all of mankind, can now be saved.

The Man that hung, on that old rugged cross, Is now saving the souls, of a world that is lost.

Yerushalayim - Hebrew for Jerusalem

Yeshua - Hebrew for Jesus

Yeshua HaMashiach - Hebrew for Jesus Our Messiah

When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it."

And the crucified Him, and parting His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent:

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."
