MEASURING ETERNITY

Artwork by  Jim Warren

Eternity has been born between the infinite blue of the sky and the endless blue of the sea, the moment when it joined their blue hands creating the fragile horizon line. But whatever it is made of, how can it be measured or counted, even if its counting would never end, for it is endless?

The sky has no end. But it is always counted, in every cloud, in every star. The horizon is endless… but it is counted again and again through eyes watching it fixedly, blurred of longing…And the sea is measured by its infinite drops of water that nobody ever could finish counting, while its only limits are the beaches with endless sands.

Everything is counted in clouds, stars, eyes, drops of sand or of water. Only eternity is counted with the wasted moments of loneliness by the edge of the sea.
