White water rafting

Raft the mighty Orange River in South Africa. The only river in South Africa with guaranteed water all year round!

The Trail starts near scenic Hopetown about an hour below Kimberley in the Free State. The rapids are grade 3 and 4 with the odd grade five thrown in for added excitement. The river runs through a black, granite gorge which reflects the orange waters and creates a surreal feeling of being on a fantasy journey through some majestic alien landscape.

The journey cam be done in 2 man inflatables affectionately called ‘Crocs’, or the more conventional 8 man inflatables! All rafting gear helmets and lifejackets are provided.

The rustic bush camp offers comfortable accommodation in 12 simple stone and wood chalets which normally sleep 2 people but can house up to 4 people in bunks. The camp is truly beautiful with a central fire and “braai” (barbecue) area, Kitchen and eating area, not to mention the Bush bar!

The adventures are hosted by salt of the earth Louie Fourie who has been farming in the Free State for 40 years. The expeditions are expertly guided by Hein Fourie, Louis’ son and others registered guides.

Safety and high adrenaline adventure are the hall marks of this great experience!
