3rd National Micromouse Competition

It was not a merry return to Ngee Ann Polytechnic for our team, where we had victory thrown away from our grasps just a year ago. We didn't manage to hit the same highs on the disappointment scale this time round as we failed to even finish in the top three rankings. Anyway it was certainly interesting to see the runners-up team of RGS girls crying outside the toilet. The team that had beaten them? RGS team A. Figure that out yourself.

2nd National Robotics Competition

A return to the site of my debut competition two years ago, only without my graduated seniors this time round. I've always enjoyed competitions at the Science Center---besides being a grand affair, you get a special pass which allows you to wander around the place without having to pay any admission fees. Then there're the lunch vouchers redeemable at the expensive canteen on the second floor.

There were various categories of competitions this year. Entered the insect race, where the model had to be assembled from Lego bricks and run on legs instead of wheels. Ours was a eight-legged creature with stilts for legs, running on overdrive. Once achieved an amazing sub-10 sec timing in the school micromouse room, but there was no one around to witness it. Victory was easy with some selective oiling, and in the end we literally ran away with a large Gold trophy.
