Lindi, Tanzania, Africa. A native magistrate of the city, Captain William Hichens, recorded in 1922 that an oncoming native constable, going to take his midnight watch, realized that his comrade was missing. He lokked all over to finally find him horribly mutilated underneat a stall. He ran to his European officer, and they found that the guy was attacked and killed by a big animal, like a lion. The victim had grey hairs in the hand, proving that he had to fight for his life.
The hypothesis is going about the Nunda, a really big cat that a venerable and educated man, the Liwali said to be. He said that it (Nunda) visited the village several times. It's a big cat, as big as a donkey, marked like a tabby. The same night, another constable died of the same manner as the first one.
The natives didn't make any bloops when they talked of Nunda, also known under the name of Mngwa. When they talk about lion (simba), leopard (nsui) or mngwa, there is no confusions, the native make a distinction between all of these great felines.
Nunda can be a larger subspecie of the Golden Cat (profelis aurata). But anyways, this creature remains one of the biggest carnivorous of Africa.
