The Chineses and Russians call it Alma; the Nepalese and Tibetan call it Yeti. One of the most popular apemen of the past century, the Yeti is supposed to be a 5-6 feet tall creature covered with a white-silver fur in the mountains, and orange-brown in the forest. The sightings are random, and the proofs goes from the footprints to the hair samples and the vague sightings.
The name Yeti is really unapropriated to talk about the creature. Translated from the Tibetan, this means "rock thing", that is not a good word to talk about an apeman! The creature is more known in occident as the "Abominable Snowman", name that can sincerely be revised, in the way that none of us knows the real personality of the Yeti.
It's popularity was once really big, as Nessie or the Bigfoot, in the times when Herge put the Yeti in one of his Tintin's adventures. Since, despite that everybody knows it, no one talk about it, cause it was eclipsed by other cryptids such as the Chupacabra or Nessie, that still stay popular.
Explanations? Letting the time pass is the best way...
