SOUTHPAW
(9/10)
We had to wait 3 years for Gilbert's next album but it was well worth the wait. "Southpaw" is Gilbert at his best. After a nice little intro i was expecting a soft ballad, i was really surprised to hear such a rocker as the first track. "You Got Me Going" brought us back to the glory days of "Get Down". The next 2 songs are beautiful ballads and then another rocker.
The other side of the album started again with a nice witty intro followed by a fun silly song "I Of Course Replied" and i mean silly in a good sense. The rest of the album gave us 3 more ballads and 1 rocker. This was the first i had ever listened to an album and liked all the songs. Some songs i enjoyed more than others but could not pick 1 song and skip it while playing the album.
The only thing i did not like about Southpaw was the front cover...one hand holding a pen!!!! i want a picture of Gilbert on the front cover and the lyrics were not included, i had to wait until 1993 when i bought the CD to get the lyrics.
