A Nereid, daughter of Nereus. Or an Oceanid, daughter of Oceanus. Either way, she was a beautiful and joyous nymph, admired by Poseidon. At first, she hated his wooing, but then he sent to her the first dolphin, and she gave in. They married and she became the goddess of the seas and oceans.
