Hestia
Hestia, Goddess of Hearth and Home
Goddess of the hearth and home. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Eldest of the Olympians. She was very different from the other gods. She hated war and never participated in the conspiracies of the gods. She was a gentle, benevolent, peacemaking goddess, patroness of
marriage, and bestower of domestic joys, the Hearth Mother. She invented the art of building houses. She never married or had any children, although she was the guardian of all lost children and orphans. Hestia
was worshiped with a multitude of small fires. No hearth was to grow cold in her honor.
