The Barricade

BY CHRISTA

A mountainous pile high in the sky

Tall against the setting sun

That streaks red for you and I

After the long battle is done

Even from the towers of Notre Dame

You can see this wondrous sight

The winds will blow just the same

As they do any other night

But tonight I see a soft glow

Of a lantern burning bright

And the faces of those who know

Of another attack tonight

Oh feel the coldness in the air

And see where the wounded lay

The Barricade yes it is where

The revolutionists died today

The red flag of freedom high it soars

Above the mighty barricade

The barricade that we adore

And in the darkness fades
