Marron openned the door and entered the dark room, not caring to open the light.
"Honey, is that you?"
"Yeah, sorry to wake you up, baby"
"It's alright, I was waiting for you."
Marron smiled, then took off her jean and layed down next to her husband. She felt his warm arms around her waist and she instantly smiled. This sensation always made her feel safe. In this world that was crumbling down in pieces, in this weird place where nothing was as it seemed, this sensation was worth more than anything.
"So, how was your mother?"
"She's dying, they say the don't have the technology to repair her."
"I'm sorry", Sean said, holding her tight. C-18's circuits had been degrading for a five years now, but it was all coming down now, all because of the fight that had killed them all...and left her and her mother alone. She had been lucky, not being exposed to the fight and all, but for a long time, she wanted to die.
"I know...I saw it coming...I guess you can never really be prepared to see your mother die."
He didn't say anything, just listened to her. After she found herself surrounded by darkness, he had been the only spot of life. Three years before, when she feeling worse than ever, on the very day of the disaster's anniversy, he had found her. He was visiting his mother's grave, she was visiting those of her friends, and they had engaged in a conversation. Just talking, just like talk, simply talking. And before she knew it, he was asking her to dinner, then again for a movie, and she was completely falling for him. They had been married for almost two years now, and their baby girl, Allison, was sleeping in the bedroom next to theirs. With him, she had found a long lost happiness, she had gotten out of a one way road to loneliness and death. And she loved him so much, it was incredible. She never thought she could love someone as much, if not more, then she had loved the other one...But she did, she truly did.
As she drifted into sleep, she felt him kissing her on the neck, then sighing against her ear. All those little details that reminded her of her lost love.
Ghost of you
Has almost faded now
Drifting then and now
Of my life
When leaves fall
You'll come right back
Coz I was yours
For a little while
You will always be
A ghost
Who lives and breathes
And you layed me down
In reverie
Every tear that falls
Remember me

Marron walked out carefully, coughing because of all the dust that was floating in the air. She cried out his name once or twice, but her voice wasn't loud enough through the explosions and cries of pain. She stumbled on something and fell on the ground, face first, stopping herself with her hands. She stood up slowly, moaning, looking at her bloody hands. The ground was covered with rocks and shattered glass. It was the ruins of the Kame House, crushed during the fight. She looked down at what she had stumbled and she covered her mouth with her hand, putting blood on her face, in shock. There, dead eyes open in the dust, layed the body of Muten Roshi...or what was left of it...She gasped, turning away, feeling the tears filling her eyes.
"No, no, no...", she muttered, turning in circles, her hands in her hair. Next to her, she saw Pan's body. She bended down, caressing her friend's face, weeping. The dust was clearing up now, and she saw in horror all her dead friends, her family, her whole life, laying there, in this hell of blood and fire. And she knew it was over...And she knew he was gone too.
Marron woke up, still shocked by her nightmare. She hadn't thought of this for a very long time...maybe the fact that she was about to lose her mother too was bringing up the bad memories. She turned on her side to see if her husband was still there, but he wasn't. She head a soft knock on the door and she turned to see who was there.
"Hey"
"Hey...Why are you up so early", she said with a sleepy voice as her husband stood there, looking at here.
"The phone rang at 4:00...and I couldn't wake you up, you'd just gotten in bed and you were sleeping too deeply."
"Why, how come?", she asked nervously, sitting up on the bed.
"It's over...Your mother died this morning, just minutes after you left."
She gasped and the tears immediatly filled her eyes...If only she had waited a little more, if only she had stayed...then her mother wouldn't have died alone, in complete loneliness. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as he came to her, holding her in his arms.
She felt a hand on her shoulder as she was weeping over Pan's body, her body convulsed with violent bursts of pain and unconceivable sadness. She turned around, startled, hoping to see him. But it wasn't, and she knew it would never be, he was dead, along with the rest of them. It was her mother, bleeding and convulsed with electronical shocks and pain, but always a conforting sight. She jumped in her arms and cried even more. At least, she wasn't alone, at least, she wouldn't have to go through all that with no one else. There was no hope of ressucitating anyone, they had all used their last chance.
"Anyone else is alive?"
"I...I...", Marron said, looking around, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"It's okay honey, It's okay...", her mother said, turning her daughter's head so she would face her. Marron looked at her mother in the eyes, and for the first time, she saw something she had never saw before. Tears were shining on the corner of C-18's eye, and it slowly slipped down her cheek.
I thought I'd heard your heart inside
Like your love for me
Said it'll never die
I've grown acustomed
To your long goodbye
I wish you were mine
Heh, You're mine
You will always be
The love who failed to see
It was cold inside
Your mistery
Every tear that falls
Remember me

Marron was standing there, in front of her mother's grave...and yet, she couldn't believe she was gone. And now she really was alone. No matter how much Sean loved her or helped her through this, she was alone. He didn't know about all her past, he didn't know about him, he didn't know about the battle that had killed them all, except her mother. He only knew her mother was a result of some experiment combinating humans and robotic technology, and that her father had died 5 years before, but he thought that it was in a car accident, the same that had damaged her mother's systems.
She was holding white roses in her hands, but she was hesitating to put them down. She was alone, standing there, Sean gone with Allison. Her hair were flowing in the wind and in her face, but she truly didn't care. It was all going downhill again, it was all crumbling down again. This last piece of her past gone, she now had nothing to hold onto from who she was and would never be.
"I'm terribly sorry, Marron"
She gasped with surprise, and turned to the person beside her. It was impossible, all a dream. But yet he was there. She jumped in his arms, hugging him tight, crying.
"Oh, my god, my god..."
"I'm so sorry Marron, so sorry"
"Oh, my god, Trunks..."
And I can't let you go
I can't let you go
No
You will always be
A ghost
Who lives and breathes
And you broke my heart
But I'll make you see
Every tear that falls
Remember me
Every tear that falls
Remember me
