The Life of Yamacha

By: Celey

Good Times and Bad

A fourteen year old Yamacha walked through the woods. The pack always allowed him to go hunting on his own. Or so Yamacha thought. The jet black wolf was watching him. It took a long while before the pack could trust the dark wolf to keep an eye on Yamacha. Otherwise usually it was another wolf making sure that Yamacha didn't get hurt while he was hunting. Yamacha's eyes darted about as he went through the woods. He spotted a deer. He quickly laid down low and stared at the deer for a long while, not making a sound. He got ready to jump. The jet black wolf growled silently to itself.

*Pathetic human...* It had growled.

The deer lifted its head from the grass upon which it was grazing on and spotted Yamacha. It began running.

*HEY! COME BACK HERE!!* Yamacha barked at it.

He began running after the deer. The black wolf rolled it's eyes.

*Foolish..* It snarled.

It quickly chased after Yamacha and the deer. The black wolf stopped, suddenly. A strange smell crept under its nose. The wolf's eyes widened.

*The sacred ground... grrrrrr... HUMAN! HUMAN!!* The black wolf barked.

Yamacha wasn't in hearing range, though. He was too busy chasing after the deer. He panted. The deer suddenly stopped and collapsed, too tired to run any further. Yamacha smirked and jumped onto the deer. The deer was still breathing, it looked up at Yamacha with what seemed to be tear-filled eyes. Yamacha was taken aback for a moment. He looked at the deer, carefully.

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwlll.

He blinked.

*What was that? That doesn't sound like anyone from my pack..* He yipped silently to himself.

He let go of the deer. The deer quickly got up and walked off. Yamacha turned his head and watched the deer go. He narrowed his eyes.

"Human, you have treaded upon sacred ground," a voice in an unfamiliar language told him.

Yamacha winced as his head began pounding. He fell to the ground, holding his head, trying not to scream in pain.

"Yes, boy. You've forgotten, you best remember. You're not a wolf. You are human. A pathetic worthless human. You've treaded upon this ground of which I have slept for so many years and now; you have awoken me," the voice spat.

Yamacha looked up, his eyes almost filled with teardrops. In front of him stood a large grey wolf with red eyes. The eyes glowed. Behind the wolf was a large stone pillar and it was glowing brightly.

*I.. what's happening...* Yamacha whimpered.

"Who are you?" he cried out.

His eyes widened and he quickly clamped his hands over his mouth.

'Was that me? What were those sounds I made? What am I doing? What's going on?!' he thought.

The grey wolf began giving off a black aura. It's eyes glowed a darker red. The stone pillar began glowing even brighter.

"Who I am is none of your concern. Humans have treaded upon this land for centuries, killing off my kind. We never did a thing to them. I am the last of a sacred wolf pack. I've been imprisoned here for many years. And now that I have risen again, I am going to kill you," it snarled.

Yamacha's eyes widened and the wolf pounced onto him. He put his hand in front of him to stop the wolf from attacking his head or neck. The wolf clamped down on Yamacha's hand. He screamed.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Yamacha closed his eyes. He didn't know what the tapping sound was. He was afraid and didn't know what to do.

'Imprisoned was the wolf. You must imprison him again. Somewhere where he can't escape. Let me help you. I know just the thing,' a voice in Yamacha's head told him.

Yamacha opened his eyes and tore his hand out of the wolf's mouth. One of the fangs from the wolf's mouth was lodged deep into his hand. He winced and tried to ignore the pain for the time being. He enclosed his hand around the wolf's neck. The wolf began choking a bit.

"Foolish human," it gasped.

"I will imprison you. And this time you won't escape," a voice deep inside Yamacha told it.

"What? But your just a chi--," the wolf started, but wasn't able to finish.

The stone pillar's glowing began to fade. One of Yamacha's souls left him. It was of his own. The wolf's soul also left. They were now hovering above their bodies.

"WOLF FANG FIST!!" Yamacha's own soul screamed.

The soul charged at the wolf's soul and engulfed it, completely. A bright light surrounded the area. Then, the light disappeared. The wolf's soul could be seen within the depths of Yamacha's soul. His soul went back inside his body. He gasped and things began to spin around him. The voice was gone, the wolf was gone, the stone pillar had been reduced to dust. He did not know what had happened. It was all so insane. Yamacha once again could not remember anything, well, almost. There was only one logical explanation Yamacha came up with.

'It was a monster,' he thought.

An image of a girl with wings, horns, and blood-dripping fangs appeared inside Yamacha's head. He screamed, got up quickly, and ran straight out of the woods. He screamed as loud as he could as he ran. It was strange to him. Everything was getting... hotter. Yamacha stopped and looked around. There were no trees or grass. He was incredibly thirsty, too. He began walking around in search of water. After several hours of searching, he fell to the ground, exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and very hot. Vultures began circling around him.

"Ohhhhhhh," he groaned.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Booming sounds filled Yamacha's head. He didn't know what was making the sounds and at the time, he didn't care. Something floated over him and screaming sounds filled his ears.

'Ehhh.... wonder what those birds are doing?' he pondered, rational thought escaping his mind.

Something stepped on him.

"OW!" Yamacha screeched.

Another something stepped on him. He growled and mustered up enough strength to get up. A strange floating dark blue being was floating away from two big burly men with guns.

"HEY!!! YOU COME BACK HERE!!" Yamacha screamed.

Bad idea. His throat began hurting. He whimpered.

The two big burly men stopped and turned around.

"Leave us alone, kid. We're busy," one of the men told him.

"You stepped on me," Yamacha squeaked, not because he was afraid, but because his mouth and throat were so dry.

The floating being was soon captured by the other man. The man was holding the dark blue creature by gun point. That wasn't what Yamacha noticed, first, however. What he had noticed first was that the man held a bottle of water.

"WATER!!" he shrieked, not caring how much his throat and mouth started hurting afterwards.

He got into position and ran up to the man.

"WOLF FANG FIST!!" he yelled, not really sure of what he was doing.

POW! SLAM! CRACK!

The man fell over dropping the floating creature who was now under shock, the gun, and the bottle of water. Yamacha grabbed the bottle of water, quickly and chugged it all down.

"Ahhhhh," he sighed, happily.

The dark blue being blinked. Yamacha tossed the bottle to the side and turned to look at the other man.

"NOW YOU WILL PAY FOR STEPPING ON ME!!" he snarled, loudly.

The man reached behind his back and pulled out a fancy looking sword. That did not stop Yamacha. He punched the man right in the nose and then slammed his elbow on the guy's head...

Instant knock-out.

He clapped his hands together. The dark blue creature stared at Yamacha in awe and then floated over to him.

"You saved me!!" it exclaimed.

"I did?" Yamacha questioned.

He hadn't noticed the creature. The being sweatdropped.

"I'm forever in your debt!! You're my new master, now!" it told him.

"You're master? Huh?" Yamacha queried, staring at the floating creature, confusedly.

"I'm a cat. And its only right that you become my master, because you saved my life! My name's Puar! What's your name, master?" Puar asked.

Pain shot through Yamacha's head.

'My name.. what's my name..?' he puzzled over.

More pain shot through his head. Yamacha wrapped his arms around his head and screamed. Puar quickly floated over to Yamacha and patted his back, slowly.

"Master, master, what's wrong?" she inquired.

"My name.. I don't know my name... wait.. my name..," Yamacha mumbled.

'You're name is Yamacha.... Yamacha.. Yamacha is your name.. Yamacha,' a voice in his head chanted.

"Yamacha... my name is Yamacha," he told Puar.

"Glad to meet you, Yamacha! Are you alright? You looked like you were going through pain a while ago," Puar pointed out.

"I'm fine.. just a.. umm..," Yamacha began, but couldn't find the right words.

"Headache?" Puar queried.

"Yes.. that's it.. a headache.. it was just a headache," Yamacha agreed.

Puar nodded. Yamacha began looking at the men he had pummeled earlier's sword and gun.

"Hmm..," he murmured.

He took off one of the guy's bandit-type clothing, took off his own clothing, then put the guy's clothing on. It was a little big to say the least, but Yamacha didn't mind. He giggled, childishly and stuffed the gun and sword into his clothing. Puar sweatdropped.

"What are you doing?" she asked him.

"Uhhh... well.. they won't be needing any of this stuff will they?" Yamacha replied, looking at Puar with a puzzled expression on his face.

"I guess not...," Puar muttered.

Yamacha grinned, goofily. Puar smiled.

"You're funny, master," she told him.

"You're the funny one.. calling me, master, my furry little... cat thing," Yamacha said, loudly at first, but then went down to a squeak.

"You mean.. friend?" Puar questioned, slowly.

"Yeah! That's it! You're my furry little friend!" Yamacha declared.

Puar beamed.

"Wanna go to my place? Its awfully hot out here, some air conditioning could do you some good," she said.

"Sure!! Do you have any food, too? I'm hungry," Yamacha proclaimed.

"Yes, but I'm sorta running out and I only have a little bit of money left and the grocery store is miles and miles away from here," Puar stated.

"Ahhh.. well.. maybe someone will come by and we can eat their food!!" Yamacha exclaimed.

Puar narrowed her eyes for a moment and sweatdropped.

"Okay, whatever you say, master!" she shouted.

Puar lead Yamacha to her little hideout and the two lived, together, happily for a couple of years. Their lives turned upside down when they met a certain little boy...
