The Torch is Ours

The Torch is Ours, Let's Hold It High
In Memory of All Those Who Die.
Let's Keep Alive What They Have Taught,
The Bravery with Which They Fought
Against Evil and Tragedy
To Rise on Top In Victory.
And for the masses, Let This Be
The Grand Triumph of Dignity!

I wrote "The Torch Is Ours" to honour the memory of Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Norman Hathcock, who passed away in the spring of 1999. As you can see, however, the spirit of the poem applies equally to our thirty heroes, and indeed to all who served and never returned.
