This Web Page is all about TWERPS, The Worlds Easiest Role Playing Game.

Core Rules Changes

TWERPS has very simple rules for almost everything.

The TWERPS Character Attribute

Characters in TWERPS have only one attribute, called Strength (ST). A beginning human character's ST is between 2 and 7, with a species maximum of 10. Because this attribute covers more than just a character's strength, it can be confusing.

I have decided to call this attribute Stature (ST) instead. Think of it as a sort of Species Default. This creates less confusion and makes for more adaptable characters. It still lets you have a very strong character, without automatically making him good at everything.

Note: I did not invent Stature (ST). Someone else did, but his identity is not known to me. This is just my version of it. See below for the original version.

Character Example:
Mongor the Barbarian
ST 5
Strength +2 ( Add +2 to all Difficulty Rolls for tasks requiring great strength.)
Profession is Barbarian Warrior ( +1 to HTH combat rolls. +1 to melee combat rolls.)

You do well in hand-to-hand and melee combat and in tasks requiring great strength.
You are average in other tasks.

The Original Version of Stature
The idea of treating ST as STature not STrength was first suggested on   The Ev-Web TWERPS Shrine. The word "strength" can be too limiting due to its connotations of muscles or power only. However, the word "stature" reinforces for player and game master both that ST represents Narrative Importance or Narrative Authority of the character. That's why a complete idiot like Inspector Gadget can still succeed all the time (he has a high ST as the most narratively important character in the television show) whereas the Alien with all its physical strength and power keeps losing to Ripley (Ripley may be far weaker physically, but she's more important in the story, so she has the higher ST).

The TWERPS Character Feats

TWERPS has no character feats. I have added them to make the characters more flexible. Feats are optional.

Feats do not effect combat rolls.
