| STRIKE OUT !! August 1995 saw the inauguration of the Medicos strike against privatisation of Medical Education. What role did the humble Priyans had in this show of Medico might ? Simple, PRIYA was made the strike office It was a step that galvanised the Priyans into action - considering that leaders like KMA were honourable residents of the lodge. Evan fanatically homesick Priyans couldn't resist the call to stop "studying" and stay on for strike. In fact, some of these were guiding lights on their own. Pamphlets, posters, paint, stencils, bombs (just kidding), crackers - everything needed for a peaceful protest were strewn around the floors of Priya. Leaders came, leaders went. Marches at distant cities, black-flagging all were planned at this very lodge. The end result - the Pariyaram College went on smoothly, the batch of 1992 had a three month respite from a series of tests and Rajasekharan became.......... ARNOLD SIVASANKARAN !!! |
