Fab TV
Radio 4
1996 (four programmes)

Series taking its inspiration from the camp, glossy British action drama serials of the sixties and seventies, written by and starring Morwenna Banks, Chris England and Robert Harley.  The first two programmes introduced us to ‘The Preventers!’, a generic pastiche of high-fashion international crime-solving outfits.  Heart-throb Mike Stallion, exotic Penelope Gold and “the third one” Craig Sturdy thwarted the schemes of a megalomaniac media baron in a caper which later appeared as a television one-off.  Programmes three and four were more specific lampoons, dealing with Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Prisoner respectively.
