Something of an event in radio comedy history: a selection of recovered scripts from this 1930s Marx Brothers radio show, written by Nat Perrin and Arthur Sheekman and first broadcast on the American NBC network, were adapted and performed before modern audiences. This experiment proved highly successful, and further series followed. The lead roles were taken by professional soundalikes Michael Roberts (as Groucho Marx, as Waldorf T Flywheel) and Frank Lazarus (as Chico Marx, as Emmanuel Ravelli); the cast also included Lorelei King, as “all the ladies”, and the show attracted guest stars of the calibre of Spike Milligan and Dick Vosbrugh. Mark Brisenden was responsible for the adaptation, and Dirk Maggs produced.
