1993 (four episodes)
This late-night oddity, running to just a single, short, never-repeated series, was written by Robin Driscoll and Tony Haase who also played the eponymous heroes. From their starting-point in Lancing, would-be wanderers Les and Robert attempted to reach India by means of the AA Relay service, but became stranded in the ancient and decidedly mysterious village of Crippleoak, where sinister goings-on were most definitely going on. The series also featured Week Ending’s Sally Grace, plus Hilda Braid (notable for her incomparable portrayal of the half-mad mother in BBC1’s Citizen Smith in the late seventies).
