Radio 4
1992 (six programmes)
Sketch series fronted by the titular double-act, alias Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding, and evolved from their various stage shows. Regular features included ‘Just Jugs’, a dreary soap set in a family jug business, and scenes from the private life of the Brontë sisters (“Where’s Emily?” “She’s dead” “Oh, she won’t be wanting breakfast then”). The series also featured Denise Coffey and — gloriously, and probably uniquely — a token man doing the male parts, namely Malcolm Raeburn.
