The
Christopher Marlowe Mysteries
Radio 4
1993 (four episodes)
It’s well known that the Elizabethan dramatist Christopher
Marlowe pursued an alternative career as a spy in Francis Walsingham’s
secret service. Ged Parsons’ series took this historical fact as
its starting-point but embellished it considerably, with the playwright
(Dominic Jephcott) investigating a succession of comic mysteries, ably
assisted by his insanitory sidekick Ratsbane (Week
Ending stalwart Bill Wallis).
