Sketch series written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and starring Chris Barrie, Nick Maloney and Nick Wilton.  Fondly remembered in its own right, Son Of Cliché’s main claim to fame derives from a sketch called “Dave Hollins — Space Cadet”, which became a regular feature in the third series.  Some of the ideas and material in this sci-fi spoof were ultimately developed by the writers into Red Dwarf, a space sitcom for TV which also starred Barrie, and which acquired a cult following before becoming one of BBC2’s most popular programmes.
