This series followed on from, and was identical in format to, the previous year's Mark Steel Revolution. This time, however, Mark Steel focused his historical gaze on individual personalities: reflecting Steel's range of interests, the subjects covered included radical author Tom Paine and cricketer WG Grace. Martin Hyder returned on reading duties, joined this time around by Melanie Hudson.
