The Doors: Strange Days

I like this album a lot. The Doors managed to combine arty (sometimes) stuff with rock stuff, and get a great sound that influenced many. I could end right here and say to listen to this album, but I'll look at a few tracks from it. "Love Me Two Times" and "Moonlight Drive" are probably my favourites off of the album. "Love Me..." has a good guitar/groove and a catchy chorus, and the whole song builds nicely to a climatic ending. "Moonlight Drive" has playful music and lyrics, which make it sound like an incredibly fun and lovey song. This track also sports some pretty nifty piano and drums, which is always cool. And since I only said a few, the last song I'll do is the 10 minute-plus album closer, "When the Music's Over". For being such a long song, it holds its own very well. The vocals and instruments are constantly rising and falling in all areas of music: loudness, speed, how many instruments are used, etc. It's like hills and valleys. That's the only way I can come up with to explain it. Because of this, the song constantly teases the ear. It doesn't even seem 10 minutes long. Wonderfully done. When you have it, you just have it.
