Duran Duran: Rio

I know, I know, many of you are either groaning or laughing and going, "Is she crazy?!", but the fact of the matter is, I really like this album. It all started with VH1's 8 days of 80's a couple of August's ago and John Taylor was on as were many other interesting other 80's groups. My friend and I were particularly breath-taken by John Taylor, and when I received an old picture of him from back in the day from her for Christmas (along with a Ramones album; that's a later review), I decided to check Duran Duran out some more. I found this album dirt cheap at a garage sale, and really don't have anything bad to say about it. The title song "Rio" opens up the album with a strong-sexy-catchy sound and feel, and it continues on throughout. There is some darkness in some of the lyrics, but I feel that that adds more of the mystique to the album. Of course, this is the home of "Hungry Like the Wolf", one of those songs that is just about everywhere, but in a good way. (Just a little sidenote: in the written lyrics for this song, the do-do's are wrong. I counted.) "Last Chance on the Stairway" is very bassy and cool; a good ear catcher. There is also the interesting instrumental on "The Chauffer" that adds something different but good to the whole album. This is kinda like ear candy to me- it doesn't fail at all.
