The HTML On/Off Switch For MSN TV
Comments About The HTML Switch
Taken From The Poll Page
- 12. Since WebTV is always looking for new features to add to it's program, I think this would be an "ideal" new feature!
- 15. This is a feature that is desperately needed....has been for a long time! I love HTML sigs......but some have reached web page proportions. On heavy internet traffic days, it's almost impossible to load many emails and posts. Please give us a switch on the sidebar!
- 20. It all boils down to FREEDOM OF CHOICE...
- 26. If webtv does not give us this switch, they are deaf, dumb and blind. LISTEN TO US!
- 41. My hope is that Webtv takes this poll seriously and into consideration for their subscribers. Thank you.
- 44. Someone must have way too much time on their hands to dream up this minutia and trivia: I'm sure there are more pressing problems to be resolved with WNI tnan an On/Off HTML Email switch.
- 46. There's always AOL and AOLTV for those wanting text only Email. We don't need another confusing switch.
- 66. Just turn the volume down, webtv has enough problems with out compounding it more, I can just see it now if they tried to put a off on switch, it was a good thought tho
- 76. Many times, I just delete unopened mail, because I KNOW it will take FOREVER to load! An 'On-Off' Switch would be MY idea of Paradise, when I'm reading me Email, and visiting News Groups!
- 88. ABSOLUTE SUPER IDEA!! I commend the person (s) who thought of this!!! All I got to say is, I hope to heck we get it, cuz I am definately gonna celebrate!!! THANK YOU for creating this, and for sharing it!! MARVELOUS IDEA!!! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS!! IN THE WORDS OF *NIKE*, "Just Do It!".......I AM FOR THIS 1000%!!!!!!
- 94. Phooy!
- 104. if people don't want html let them buy a silly computer
- 117. This is a much needed enhancement, and it's long over due.
- 147. If webtv corp really used their own product then they would come up with this wonderful idea. On a PC it does effect them.
My personal favorite!
- 165. Did you know that you can make your own on/off switch for midis and rams? Better school yourself a little more in html before you wreck things for everyone...JERK!!!
- 198. How can anyone be against the idea? It's an OPTION. For someone to say "No" that means they want to FORCE someone to read their slow loading HTML email message.
- 210. The option to view or not to view HTML would be one of the best additions WebTv could make. We gripe about how slow the Web is at certain times but I've always felt we were our worst enemies by using HTML because it makes sense that it is going to slow down the process because it takes up space.
- 212. I've read in various newsgroups comments made by a number of WebTVers about how they've been accused of being rude on the 'Net and not abiding by Netiquette "rules & regs." After seeing too many slow loading postings in various newsgroups who allow HTML and some newsgroups who allow "limited" HTML (I wonder if some people understand the meaning of "limited"), and now reading some of the comments here from possibly some of those same HTML users, I can now see why a lot of 'Net users think _some_ WebTVers are rude, inconsiderate, and ego-driven. This suggested feature takes NOTHING away from anyone who uses HTML; it frees up a lot of bandwidth, eliminates some possible security gaps, and still allows all HTML users to satisfy their egos without FORCING said egos onto unwilling recipients. Most of us can and do appreciate all the hard work and many, many hours that go into the creation of the sigs, but that doesn't mean we like having them FORCED upon us; THIS is an intrusion. And what is suggested here, has nothing to do with taking anyone's rights away or suppressing artistic creations, or censoring, or any freedoms of any kind. It gives EVERYONE the freedom to choose -- choose HTML ON or HTML OFF. JMHO, but it seems perfectly clear to me.
- 232. Wunnerful, wunnerful. Someone finally has the chutzpah to promote this.
- 246. Like one person said, I pray that if this option is given to webtv that it won't screw up something else which always seems to happen when we get a new feature. Now I enjoy html in posts most of the time, but I cannot stand opening a post or email with a ram, and sometimes I come across a post that just won't load and who has time to wait five minutes to read a sentence?
- 248. Freedom of Choice, what a concept. If my one little vote can help assure the little guy has a chance to make a free choice, Count me in.
- 253. Fantastic idea! It should have been an option from the beginning instead of leaving it up to the sender only. At least this would make the playing field equal, since the receiver could choose if he wanted to see and hear someone else's idea of art and creativism.
- 257. I am so glad this poll was taken and relieved that I am not alone when I say I would like to shut it off. I care what my friends have to say more than I care about what gifs they have and what music is playing. Could never find a way to tell them that enough is enough already.
- 270. Such a simple solution to such a big problem!
- 328. It's a great idea - let's hope they listen.
- 348. Yes, yes, yes. It would be an answer to my prayer.
- 397. Sometimes I like to check my email before going to work and I know I get tired of waiting for some emails to load. One person I know put about 14 different gifs on one email page. I always dread opening that person's mail. I'm all In Favor of it.
- 417. Outstanding idea! This feature should have been added when the HTML signatures first began appearing and not only slowing down all processes but also crashing the units. Of course, if the users of these HTML signatures would show more courtesy, good manners and common sense, in place of exposing their huge egos to the world, then the feature would only be needed for better security purposes, and Webbies wouldn't be ridiculed by PC users for such crass behavior.
- 429. yeah man no more loud musak
- 437. Webtv should have gave us this option in the very beginning insted of us having to vote on it...GREAT IDEA
