Cartworth Moor 2 v Deanhousemuir 0

Destiny!

And so it came to be, with the sun aligned with the moon and pluto in uranus, history would show that after years of unjust treatment, at the hands of Deanhousemuir, a day of judgement would arrive, and so it did! Would it be in an arena fit for kings, with crowds massing round, or would it be at Hade Edge on a dull Thursday evening?

Deanhouse v Cartworth in a play off to decide who would start next year playing at the lowest level possible, against teams who would be better playing darts. The loser's of this game would have the chance to finnish about 100th out of the 100 teams who play football in Huddersfield.

It was destiny!

However everyone knew this was how it should be, after last years misery at losing the championship to Deanhousemuir, after throwing away more chances than Leeds Utd, after losing a 12 point lead, Cartworth knew they would win!

The game started with Deanhousemuir fielding an unrecognisable side, consisting of second teamers, the game was on! Cartworth wanted to win this game and it showed. However fair credit to Deanhousemuir who made a game of it, but it was soon clear Cartworth where going to win. By half time they where 2 - 0 up with fine goals from Adam and Steve. The whole team played excellent and deserve a mention, so here goes:

Nik - Superb! - Some of his handling this season kept us in the relegation run right to the end!

Browny- Only one Browny! - Pre match plans to tie his boot laces togheter worked well as Browny failed to give away a single penalty!

Gareth/Gavin - Played like two men! - Most Improved Player this year! - How bad was he before?

Bucky - Midfield dynamo restricted to centre back!

Smithy - Like a father to the team. - Hopefully not literally! - A most splendid season.

Adam - Dave Beckham of the Team - After putting down his handbag, quality!

Rich B - Reduction in Prozac dose caused a few tense moments, with effects still evident at dinner! - Mrs Barker soon had him back under control.

Mad AL - Madder than a march hare! - Hard work and constant effort got us the result we deserved.

Helmy - The David Ginola of the team! - Skilful player providing inspiration to the younger members of the team. - Is there any?

Tom - Vital role, mainly because he is the only one able to strike a ball!

Steve B - Man of the Match - Unlike Leeds, when it counted, he delivered.

James - Deserves a special mention and a break through into the team next year. - Hardworking lad who's determination and dedication throughout the season has been an insparation to us all.

Fred - Lead us to where we are - 2nd to bottom! - but not relegated!

Charlie the dog - Thank FCUK, dont have to go out in the rain on a Saturday anymore!

Just like the fat lady Vinnie pulls, its not over til she sings, so a quick mention to all those who keep the club going, WE all know who you are! and with Glick and Fred rummored to be staying....who knows what next season will bring?

Cheers Cartworth. See you all next year!

Bring it on!
