The New England Liberty

"Give me liberty or give me death!" - Patrick Henry

The New England Liberty are owned by Paul Kuchar

In 1997, a struggling and corrupt Rusty's Fantasy Football league, or RFFL, called Mr. Kuchar to take over a team that had been abandoned by the previous owner. After the appropriate paper work and favor, Mr. Kuchar agreed to resume the day to day operations of this abandoned team. In that first year, Mr. Kuchar named his team the Kendallville Park Rats. The park rats finished dead last. However, Mr. Kuchar had shrewdly used this first year to build for the future. But, at the end of that first fantasy season, the RFFL collapsed. For awhile, it looked like the league would totally fold.

Then, a daring strategy started to form. What if the league could find a new commissioner and several new owners to step in and keep the league in tact. That is when Mr. Kuchar stepped up to the plate. Mr. Kuchar re-named his team the New England Liberty, to symbolize the break from the tyrranical rule of the past commissioner. Several quality owners were recruited to fill the vacated ownership of four of the league's eight teams. In the summer of 1998, the new Independence Fantasy Football league held it's first draft. With teams like the Mutiny, Revenge, Mavericks, and Liberty, the league headed into the future with a spirit of freedom and equality for all. The league rules are finally in written form and are not up to the whim of the commissioner. Under this new framework, the New England Liberty have finished with the most points in the league three out of five years and won the league Championship twice.
