Glitch: Play as Invisible Mario!

Discovered by: Dom Dunc and Tetsuo2019

Description: The glitch begins much like the chuckya glitch. Jump into Wet-Dry world with the water at mid-level, grab chuckya, take him to the edge of his platform, tap A to jump at the edge, land under him so he grabs you. (you all know the drill by now). Now go and raise the water to the highest crystal and lure chuckya into a corner. The crux of this glitch is that when chuckya grabs you in water, for a couple of seconds, while he's holding you, you can control an invisible Mario, leaving him holding a dummy. The idea is that when he grabs you, immediately dive down and grab him. Sounds easy right? Well it is, but it can be really tricky the first few times because you only have a few seconds, and you can't see yourself. Anyway, once you've grabbed him, you should see Mario floating above the water, holding chuckya, but you are actually controlling an invisible Mario and invisible Chuckya! Now, if you drop chuckya the glitch will end, so follow these instructions carefully. To get rid of the invisible chuckya, but leave Mario invisible, swim as far away as you can from the visible chuckya, so that the model is no longer in the game's memory (to be safe, go right to the other end of the level) now do anything that would normally cause you to drop chuckya, such as grabbing on to a ledge. Now you're free! You are controlling a completely invisible Mario! Longjumping, belly-sliding or crawling with momentarily cause you to become visible again, but apart from that you stay invisible all the time, you can even use the warp and cannon! A small limitation however, if you get too close to where you left the visible chuckya, his model will again load into the game's memory, he'll die and you'll reappear, thus ending your fun.

UPDATE: Tetsuo2019 has made some videos of this glitch in Tiny-Hune Island and Tall Tall Mountain

"InvisiMario in THI: (BrightGuy)
Vid Here (vid tetsuo2019)

To perform this glitch first requires you to take the chuck-ya to the lower level this can be easily done by taking the Chuck-Ya to the top of the island and walking him into the water so he becomes light, now Mario will be able to jump with it. Now take the Chuck-Ya to the area with the cannon, opposite the entrance area. To get the Chuck-Ya into the water without holding Mario, walk over to the ledge edge (the one facing the water), jump slightly over the ledge and pull back on the control stick (so that if Mario wasn't holding anything he would grab onto the ledge) Mario should now grab onto the ledge and the Chuck-ya should be thrown into the air, come down and grab Mario and drop down into the water undamaged. Now the glitch can be done as before.

InvisiMario in TTM: (Tetsuo2019)
Vid Here (vid tetsuo2019)

Again, for this glitch Mario needs to take the Chuck-ya down into the small 'lake' thats at the very beginning of the course. To do this grab the Chuck-ya and walk him over to the bridge. Walk to wards the edge of the bridge and keep taping 'A'. When you get to the edge Mario will throw the Chuck-Ya and because you keep taping 'A' will jump underneath him. Mario will be a lot further down than the Chuck-Ya so kick or butt-stomp in mid air to slow down, the Chuck-Ya should grab Mario and land safely in the water. Now the glitch can be performed as before."

Glitch: Under Big Boo's Merry-go-round, without a GameShark and on an actual console

Discovered by: Dom Dunc and Hawkeye 123

Description: Ever fiddled the camera angle to take a look under Big Boo's Merry-go-round? If you have, you'll have noticed that there is a mysterious steel floor down there that is impossible to reach without a GameShark... or this glitch. Firstly, enter Big Boo's Haunt and enter the shed outside the main mansion. Make sure you know where the merry-go-round is in relation to the lift that takes you down to the basement. OK, when the lift is at the bottom, start doing backwards longjumps against the wall. As you're going up, Mario should start getting stuck in the wall and bouncing up and down etc. Keep rapidly tapping A until you're about 2/3 of the way up, then stop the longjumps and push the stick into the wall. Mario should hang there. Now let go of the stick and he should slam into the ground where it will appear that he is stuck. Now hold the stick in the opposite direction to the way you want to go, and tap jump to try and get him moving. He should appear to teleport around and get stuck again. Keep positioning the stick away from the merry-go-round, and tap jump to move again. With a bit of luck and a good sense of direction you should push into Big Boo's merry-go-round and land on the steel floor underneath it. Be careful mind, if you go up the lift too far, or get Mario going too fast the game will freeze, just leaving the music running and you'll have to reset.

Glitch: Mess with Wet-Dry World

Discovered by: Dom Dunc

Description: This is a group of glitches all stemming from a trick I discovered that I like to call the 'Dry Pipe' Glitch. This allows you to re-enter the pipe that leads to the town after you have drained the water from it. This then allows you to pull off a bunch of cool glitches including reactivating the dead fire-spitters in the town, changing the water level in the town to any height you want! And other weirdness.

Root Glitch) Jump into the dry pipe.

Enter Wet-Dry World with the water as high as possible, now jump into the pipe that leads to 'the town' once you come out the other end, look left and find the grey building with the flat roof. Now drain the water. Make your way on top of this roof and look back towards the pipe. Now take a run up and long jump onto the red roof below the pipe entrance, aim for the fire-spitter. With luck the fire spitter will light you on fire, when this happens run in a circle so you end up facing the way you started (to my knowledge this is the only way to build up enough speed) you should start sliding on your butt towards the brown pillar on the wall. After a split second of sliding, jump towards the pillar, wallkick and hold right for all you're worth. With a HUGE amount of luck you'll just grab the top of the grating. From here you can pull yourself up and drop down back into the pipe.

Glitch 2) The wall of water

Now that you're back in the pipe, make your way back down the pipe until you're about halfway down, now you should hear a splash and you'll find yourself swimming. If you stay in the centre of the pipe when you do this you'll teleport to the surface of the water in the main area. If you stay to the side of the pipe however, you'll stay in the pipe.

Glitch 3) Raise the water level in the main area WITHOUT using the crystals.

When you do the 'wall of water' glitch you should notice that the water level in the main area has been raised to the level it was at when you jumped into the painting, (sometimes higher than the highest crystal!) it doesn't matter how high it was to begin with. This is the ONLY WAY to raise the water this high from inside the level! The only other way is to jump into the very top of the painting.

Glitch 4) Stuck inside the ceiling

Perform the dry pipe glitch and jump on top of the grating covering the entrance to the pipe. Now perform a fast series of backwards long jumps into the wall to the left (if you're looking into the tunnel) of this grating (this is tough because the ledge is so thin) after a while of long jumping you'll either end up pushing through the wall and falling or you'll push into the wall and get stuck. You can't really move around in this wall you seem to be in a kind of vertical tunnel as in the 'Secret Lagoon' glitch.

Glitch 5) Control the water level in the town without using the crystals. (Put it anywhere you like!)

When you're walking in the pipe, stand near to the wall of water, now watch the water level, you may need to adjust the camera to do this. As it rises to the top of it's swell jump into the water. Now turn round and drop out. Repeat this a few times then go back to the town and look at the water level, it should be significantly higher. You can also do this when the water level is at the bottom of it's swell to lower the water level. With a little patience you can put the water level pretty much wherever you want, you can even raise it up to the level of the pipe and half flood it. (NOTE: This can be done without doing the Dry Pipe glitch first, by just swimming through the loading point over and over, but it is much easier if you do because you can see the water level and time your jumps)

Glitch 6) Reactivate the dead fire-spitters in the town.

In the town, there are two fire-spitters that normally never work because they are smothered by water. However if you use the 'Control the water level in the town without using the crystals' glitch to lower the water until in ends up underground then the fire-spitters become reactivated. This is one of my favourite glitches because it seems that it actually fixes a mistake made by the level designers.

Glitch: Beat the game with 16 stars! Plus, how to access two previously undiscovered Black Rooms of Death!

Discovered by: Dom Dunc

Description: These three glitches are being lumped together because they all stem from one glitch that was discovered by me.

Glitch 1) Beat the game with 16 stars.

To perform this glitch start a new game and play through it until you have 15 stars (so that MIPS appears in the basement), now head to Bowser in the Dark World and defeat him so you obtain the key to the basement of the castle. Now head down there and grab MIPS. Now take him to the door you came in through, that leads back to the room containing the 30 star door. Now you need to perform the 'take MIPS through doors glitch'. For those unfamiliar with this glitch here's a brief description;

Drop MIPS as close to the door as possible, then walk through the door. As soon as Mario has finished the door opening animation turn and jump back at the door. If you get the distance just right you should land merged with the door, if this happens don't move or you'll open the door, instead, press B to grab MIPS. Now turn and drop MIPS on the other side of the door.

Now grab MIPS again and take him to the 30 star door and drop him a short distance from the door. Now turn around and face away from the door and jump between MIPS and the door, if you get the distance right you should be bumped straight through the door and into the room behind.

Now you need to enter Dire, Dire Docks and complete the first star to uncover the entrance to the Bowser in the Lava Sea course. Beat this bowser to obtain the key to the first floor of the castle.

Now you'll notice that you're trapped in the the room with the entrance to Dire, Dire Docks, to get out simply enter DDD and pause the game and select Exit Course to appear back in the castle lobby. Now walk up the stairs and through the locked door to the first floor of the castle.

Now you need to use the backwards longjump glitch to get through the the 50 star door. To perform this glitch stand at the bottom of the stairs facing away from the door and longjump towards the camera, now hold down Z and tap A when you touch the ground to keep longjumping. While doing this push the analogue stick towards the door, you should start doing backwards longjumps on the stairs. When you land on the stairs, continue to hold Z and the analogue stick and begin rapidly pressing A. With luck you should start moving at a high speed and fly through the 50 star door.

Now make your way to the endless stairs and do the same thing. You should easily make it to the top where you can enter the Bowser in the Sky course. Now simply beat Bowser and you're done! You've completed the game with only 16 stars, less than one quarter of the original amount.

Glitch 2) The Stairway of Death

Follow the steps for the previous glitch until you reach the room containing the 30 star door. But instead of placing MIPS near the 30 star door take him to the door with the key hole. Place him a small distance from the door and jump between MIPS and the door. With luck you'll be bumped through. This room acts exactly the same as the original Black room of Death. When on the side in which you can see Big Boo, the wall around the door can be jumped through to re-enter the game as normal.

Ironically, this door is much tougher to get through because there is a slight overhang above it, and if you make a mistake and walk through the door normally, you have to start all over again.

Glitch 3) The Wet room of Death

Follow the steps for the first two glitches, but instead of taking MIPS through the door leading to the 30 star door, take him through the door that leads to the two stone pillars that, when butt-bashed lower the moat. Do this, then place MIPS a short distance from the door as before. Now jump between the door and MIPS to be pushed into a room floating above some water, hence the name 'wet room of death'.

This glitch may be useful to those looking for a way under the castle as when in the outside version of the room you are essentially in a box floating above the water under the castle, so if there was a way to pass through the walls in the room, you'd land in this water. As a side note, in this room it appears that you cannot jump through any of the wall back into the normal game so you have to reset the game to continue normally.

(NOTE: Neo Ninja of the GameFAQs forum found an easier alternate method of doing these glitches, to merge with any door in the basement grab MIPS and walk into the right edge of the door, and press Z. Mario should drop MIPS and merge with the door. Now hold Z to crawl and turn around, from here you can grab MIPS, turn around and drop him on the other side of the door. With practice, you can use this method to take MIPS with you into the Black Rooms of Death)

Glitch: Inside the Jolly Roger Aquarium!

Discovered by: Dom Dunc

Description: Ever wanted to get inside the aquarium in the room that leads to Jolly Roger Bay? Well now you can!

This is a tough glitch to pull off, so be prepared to put some effort in if you want to do it. To perform the glitch, go to the aquarium room (the room that contains the painting that leads to Jolly Rodger Bay) go up to the glass panel to the immediate left of the painting (the glitch works on both sides, but for the sake of direction use this window) go to the left edge of this window, where it touches the wall, walk into this area and you should see that when you walk into it, it bumps Mario around. Now you need to turn Mario around so he faces away from this seam, now start doing backwards longjumps at it. You may need to adjust your angle several times as it needs to be very specific. You'll know you've got the angle right by rapidly tapping A when you hit the ground, if you start to do multiple jumps you have the correct angle. Once you have the angle right you simply need to keep doing backwards longjumps but when you touch the ground, rapidly (and I mean RAPIDLY) hit the A button, with a bit of luck, and a lot of sweat you'll manage to get 3 or 4 jumps in every time you hit the ground, keep doing this and eventually you'll pick up a lot of speed and pop through the glass into the aquarium. There isn't actually any water in there so you just run around on the floor and look at the pretty fish. Also you'll notice that there is no way back out of the aquarium so you'll need to reset at some point.
