The Line Segment

* A line segment is a part of a line, consisting of two end points, and all the points between these end points.

* Line segments are represented by capital letters, ie AB, which have specific coordinates. ie A(0,4), B(2,-6).

* It is often useful when drawing line segments on a graph to not only label the end points (AB) but to label their coordinates as well. This is helpful when calculations need to be done, as you are able to visually see where the points lay on the line segment.

* The equation of a line segment is

SLOPES

* Remember: parallel lines have the same slope. Likewise, parallel line segments have the same slope.

* Also, the slopes of two perpendicular line segments are negative reciprocals. For example, 4 and -1/4.
