The Hatchets are a four piece original rock group based out of Denver Colorado.

With roots in the blues, folk music and classic rock, The Hatchets deliver an energetic live performance with something to offer virtually any listener. Along with performing finely crafted original songs, they also play a wide variety of classic rock covers with a level of passion often lacking in many live acts.

A Brief History

The band was formed in 1998 when (lead-singer/songwriter) Barry Shapiro began collaborating with another songwriter, (lead guitarist) Glen Plourde. The two quickly took to playing local open stages together and over the next year, their creative chemistry produced an abundance of dynamic original music… The Hatchets were born.

In 2002 Simon Brown was recruited to play drums and the songs were immediately elevated to a more powerful level. In 2003, bass player, Dave Szuch completed the line-up and the four have since been working hard on building a loyal following in and around the Denver / Boulder area. Recording is also underway for the bands debut CD titled “Found Me A Way” due out in 2005.

Since 2002 The Hatchets have headlined at The Buffalo Rose in Golden CO, played The Race for The Cure in Denver, and have been interviewed by local radio.
