Game 2 (Saturday 1:00 PM)    Mt. Lebanon (home) vs. Pleasant Hills (lost 6-11)
This was pushed back from 11:15 because of rain.  This was the first game for this team.  Alex and Nate were the players of the game with Alex receiving the Game Ball (Player of the Game) because of his second inning double which drove in 2 runs which got us on the scoreboard.  Chris was on base 3 times (2 walks + 1 HBP), Matt B (filling in for our 15th slot) had a strong double, Nate went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, Will, (filling in for Peter) went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, Patrick was on base 3 times with single, walk & HBP, Andrew G was HBP twice and laid down a smooth bunt but was thrown out.  We came ever so close to turning TWO "normal" double plays.  Only three Pleasant Hills balls were hit out of the infield, 2 hits and Fly out to right (Chris).

Game 3 (Sunday 5:00 PM)  Mt. Lebanon vs. Castle Shannon (won 12-2)
This game was originally scheduled for 12:15 PM.  Matt M was the Player of the Game - Pitching 3 innings and hitting a triple. Chris, Andrew G, Zack, Andrew K, Alex were on base 2 out of three times while Brandon  was on ALL three at bats.

Game 4 (Sunday 8:00 PM)  Mt. Lebanon vs. Elliott (lost 2-6)
Everyone is back from the Soccer tournament.  Welcome!  I think I cut myself shaving at this game - it was THAT Close!  Brian was the Player of the Game for his three outstanding innings, holding a shutout.  Matt M started off the same as last game - with a double, stole 3rd and came home after tagging on Patrick's fly ball to center to give us a 1-0 lead until the 4th when it was tied 1-1.  We came close to getting out of the 5th when the infield played and we got the first out with a force at home (Alex to James), the next one was a hit to Zack at SS and threw home which was tough for James to handle which would have given us two outs and bases loaded.  A single up the middle broke it open and we never recovered fully scoring one run and leaving a runner at third.  Alex pitched another strong 3 inning, and was pitching well but not getting the calls.

Game 5 (Monday 8:00 PM)  Mt. Lebanon (home) vs. Pleasant Hills (lost 11-17)
Well this game showed what we are made of, at the verge of being 10 run'd, we came back in the 5th inning with 6 runs.  It all started with Patrick getting a single, then Brian doing the same, then Andrew smacking a towering triple to deep right field (with 2 RBI's), then Andrew G drawing a walk, Zack hitting a single, then the Player of the Game, Nate driving a double and later scoring the 6th run of the inning.  This forced a 6th inning, where James pitched  to 5 batters giving up only 1 run after he struggled in the 5th.  Nate and James played excellent defense, with James catching a line drive at second base, ending one inning and another time making a throw to home while Andrew G blocking the plate, tagged the runner out for the second out in the 5th inning.  Because of that play the opposing manager argued with the umpires and was quickly ejected from the game.  Patrick got two hits and a walk, Brian had 2 singles, Andrew K was 3 for 3 (& a walk) pushing for the Player of the Game award. Zack was 2 for 3, Nate was 3 for 4 with 2 singles and double (with his defense play earned him the Player of the Game), Chris was HBP and walked and James & Jeremy each had a single.  Note: The Pitching defense all tournament has been excellent, making all the plays given them.

Game 6 (Tuesday 6:00 PM)  Mt. Lebanon vs. Dormont (home) (lost 3-6)
Well, we gave Dormont all they could handle last night with only 8 players. Matt B filled in again for us playing 3rd and pitching. We lost 3-6. Chris was the Player of the Game for his outstanding outfield coverage. Chris and Alex did most of the outfield duty and some times it looked like we had 4 or 5 outfielders. With only 8 players, every time our 9th player was to bat - it was an out. I made a mistake on our 1st 9th batter - Sorry, Chris hit a deep shot to the "Ground Round" sign, it was caught and I didn't tag up Nate who walked and stole 2 bases - we took our 3rd out that inning with a runner at 3rd, I should have tagged him up which would have tied the game. James started our first rally with a walk, stole 2nd and Matt B singled him home for a 1-0 lead. Our second rally again started with a walk, then fielders choice forcing Andrew K at second, leaving Nate at 1st, who quickly stole 2nd and was hit home by Alex's single up the middle. Our last rally was when Nate doubled and scored on Alex's 2nd single of the game but we were hampered by the 9th batter having an automatic out (2nd out of the inning) and Alex was forced at second for the final out of the game. Christian played outstanding at catcher, .he caught the complete game, he cooled off between innings to minimize the heat. Again, in the second consecutive game, our catcher stopped a run from scoring by making a text book tag of a runner trying to score, plus throwing a runner out at third base. Nate & Matt B pitching, each had 3 strikeouts (2 each looking). WELL DONE TEAM!

Game 1 (Thursday 8:15 PM)  Mt. Lebanon vs. Elliott (home) (won 15-9)
Again Lebo played a solid game, where we stressed stopping the ball, not trying to field it, plus having the pitcher and 1st basemen back up the catcher on balls hit to the outfield or plays at home.  Patrick was the Player of the Game, he was on base ALL 4 times, with a walk, HBP, then a double and single, Patrick as he has all tournament, played excellent defense, backing up plays from the infield or outfield, he also scored 3 times while stealing 3 bases.  This game, we started the game with 4 runs and then 6 runs to have a 10-2 lead into the third.  Matt M had two singles and three stolen bases while scoring 2 runs.  Andrew K, had a single and a HBP while scoring 2 runs.  Will and Matt B shared a batting position, Will had a walk, then scored on a ball solidly hit to the outfield, he touched all the bases with an inside the park home run ( 2runs) and Matt B had a single and scored one run.  Brian had a single.  Nate again had a solid hitting game going 3 for 4, 2 singles and a double, scoring 2 runs.  Brandon had two singles and two stolen bases.  Zack replaced Brandon and was hurt (throwing hand) in the 6th inning fielding a ball from 2nd base.  James had a single and walk while scoring 2 runs.  Alex was 2 for 2 with a single and double, and Jeremy (replaced Alex) getting a single, then getting forced at third base.  Andrew G had a single, he was replaced by Chris who singled.  We Started pitching with Will (2 innings), then Brandon (2 innings), then Chris and Andrew K finished the game.  In 1 2/3 innings, Andrew K had 4 K's.  Will had 2 K's both in the 2nd inning.

Friday June 27, 2003  Mt. Lebanon vs. Elliott (visitor) (lost 2-8)
6:00 PM     Mt. Lebanon vs. Elliott   3rd Place vs. 4th Place (for Medals)
We got stopped by 2 pitchers who dominated us (Mack & Bolla).  We have typically scored more than 8 runs in these games, but not tonight.  We seem to have problem scoring runs against Elliot (we may face them in the FINDLEY tournament late in July).  Matt M had 2 singles in 3 at bats, was on third base both times Matt was selected by CS for the Player of the Game.  Patrick had two walks and scored one run, others receiving either hits or walks...Brian, Alex, Nate, Jeremy and Will.
8:15 PM     Pleasant Hills vs. Dormont   Championship (1 vrs 2)
Pleasant Hills beat Dormont.  We will face Pleasant Hills in their tournament next week.
