FINDLAY Twp. Game Highlights
July 26th-30th

| Game 1 ( 9:00 AM Saturday July 26th ) Mt. Lebanon (Visitors) vs. Mars (Lost 0-8) |
| In this tournament we were missing 5 players, We had two new-comers help us out - Kevin D and Eric E, who tried out for travel but did not qualify for a team, I hope they continue to enjoy baseball and have good tryouts next year. When we don't score, we know the outcome. But our field playing and pitching did a real good job. James was the starting pitcher in the game getting the 1st three batters out, but in the next inning, walked 3 and gave up 3 hits and 3 runs, in the third inning, gave up only one hit, but he scored after stealing a base and running home on a forced play at second. Jeremy came in next and a similar thing happened with 1 hit and two strikeouts. In the 5th, behind 0-5, we gave up 4 walks and 1 HBP along with 1 hit, and Mars scored 2 runs. Christian came in in the 6th and walked 3 and gave up a double (no outs) giving up the last run, Brandon was called to to duty and got the three batters he faced out in order. We had only two hits in the game, by Matt and Peter. Matt led off the game with a single and two stolen bases, but was stranded at third. We had 13 strikeouts in the game (out of 18 possible outs in the game), no one was hitting the ball. |

| Game 2 ( 1:30 PM Saturday July 26th ) Mt. Lebanon (Visitors) vs. Findlay (Lost 0-5) |
| The pitchers were not tracked in this game other than Jeremy. Brandon started the game, but got ill and had to leave. Findlay started off strong scoring 3 runs before Jeremy settled in allowing none in the 2nd, striking out a total of 4. I think Andrew K and Peter pitched in the game, but I'm not sure. Chris, Christian and Andrew G each got hits in this game. We had 10 strikeouts in this game (out of 18 possible outs in the game). |

| Game 3 ( 12:30 PM Sunday July 27th ) Mt. Lebanon (home) vs. Blackhawk (Lost 6-15) |
| Before the game, I figured out the reason we were not hitting.....Matt has not pitched for us in a while, so I told the team this before the game that Matt was going to pitch in this game.....and it must have been it....We started off this game very well, leading 3-0 into the 3rd inning. James again started the game and again retired the 1st three batters and getting 3 immediate outs after giving up a lead off walk in the 2nd having 3 strikeouts vs. 7 batters. Matt, Brandon, Eric (our fill in player) and Jeremy each pitched, but could not hold Blackhawk down giving up 15 runs in 4 innings. One thing was we started the 6th inning off strong with 2 singles (by Patrick and Brandon who also scored), then we had 3 walks and three outs to end the game. Brandon and Patrick each had 2 hits and Peter, Chris, Christian, Matt, James and Andrew K each had hits giving us 10 for the game. James's hit was a bunt which turned into a "triple" on the overthrow to 1st base. But we had 10 strikeouts in this game which we need to reduce (out of 18 possible outs in the game). |

| Game 4 ( 5:00 PM Sunday July 26th ) Mt. Lebanon (Visitor) vs. Elliot (Won 5-4) |
| James again started the game pitching, only giving up 1 run in 2 innings, Christian followed giving up 1 run (may not have scored if the ump returned the runner to 2nd after the batter was called out for throwing the bat) in 1 2/3 innings, Andrew G came in to get the final out of the inning with bases loaded with a line drive to Peter at third. Chris, Andrew K and Brandon followed with 2/3 inning each to hold the win for us. We did not score until the 4th inning where we scored 4 runs by Peter leading off with e double, then Andrew K, with 2 outs, singled, followed by BACK to BACK to BACK doubles by Matt then James then Patrick scoring all but Patrick. We then added one run in the 5th on a walk by Eric who immediately stole two bases, Andrew G walked then Peter hit a double to right field scoring Eric. We reduced our strikeouts to 4, a great improvement. Matt went 3 for 3, 2 singles and a double and Peter went 2 for 2 and a walk, other hits were by Andrew K, James, Patrick, Christian and Jeremy (double). |

| Game 5 (6:00 PM Tuesday July 29th ) Mt. Lebanon (home) vs. New Brighton (lost 4-15) |
| Eric, who filled in our roster got his first travel hit tonight, a hard single to right center field. Peter, Chris, Patrick and James each made a fielding line-up for one inning, positioning the players where they wanted them to be. Chris and Peter selected for themselves to catch (1st time they caught for this team - ever) - I wonder if they will want to catch again?????? This team is their "A" team and has played at Cooperstown early in the year and has practiced and played together for quite some time - it showed. Andrew G started the game for us (I in-avertedly pulled him from the Elliot game) giving us 2 2/3 innings, where the first two were his best but their bats awoke in the 3rd scoring 5 runs. Jeremy and James came in to pitch but gave up 3 and 4 runs each. Patrick ended the inning pitching to two batters and getting each out (I think it wasn't too hard was it?). Well, this was it, if we did not score 5 runs in the 5th, the game and season was over (It was also thought we needed only 4 but really it was 5) - WE ALMOST DID IT, scoring 4 runs. The inning started off with Eric gettng a single, followed by Matt's walk, Chris took one for the team (HBP), then Brandon singled filling the bases with one run in, James was up with two outs and 2 strikes (I couldn't look, but I did) but James hit a rocket over the right center fielders head for a triple and now we had 4 runs in, needing 1 more which never came to end our 30 game season. GREAT JOB TEAM!! |
