CHAMP IN THE PERSIAN GULF...FOREVER
The LAKE CHAMPLAIN spent the majority of the deployment in a position in the North Arabian Gulf called Comiskey. She acted as a Guard Ship for Iraqi ships that were transporting sanctioned items to other parts of the world. Once the ships were "taken down" and forced to be searched, CHAMP would board them looking for illegal items. The port nearest Comiskey was Bahrain, and below are pictures of the port as the ship entered from sea.
