West Java It's a land of peace and scenic beauty and within easy traveling distance from Jakarta. Religion and art form the core of the rich Balinese culture, and village life takes place around them, temple festivals - there are about 20,000 Hindu temples - are celebrated around the island, and visitors will see women and children wearing their colorful costumes and, accompanied by men, carrying bountiful offerings on their heads for the deities. Bali famous for its shops and galleries, and its artist produce stone and wood carvings, highly ornamented gold and silver jewelries, traditional paintings and woven fabrics in bright colors. Central JavaCentral Java is known for its landscapes and ancient temples. Its most famous temple is Borobudur, built in 8th century, which contains an impressive collection of Buddhist reliefs. Its side is a quiet and beautiful hill overlooking lush green rice fields outside Yogyakarta. Besides, temples smoothed by time stamp silent on the Dieng plateau surrounded by misty sulphur fumes that drift their terraced feet. Yogyakarta Famous for being the cradle of art and culture. Tradition comes to life at festivities like the Grebeg and Sekaten : celebrated at all grandeur. They bring about the serene atmosphere of centuries-old Javanese costum and rituals. Tourists visiting Yogyakarta usually make it a point to visit the batik Research Center, where the unique technique of batik manufacture are studied and improved, and the Prambanan temples with the main Shiva temple forming the naturals setting of the "Ramayana ballet" performance at moonlight lights. Arts and crafts flourish in Yogyakarta, as skilled craftsmen produce the finnest leather puppets, leather parchment carvings, and souverniers, silver works, using centuries-old techniques. |
